Bengaluru | Inter-state robber held; articles worth Rs 80 lakhs seized

Bengaluru, Oct 29: Police have arrested an Inter-State robber and recovered a huge quantity of stolen valuables from him.

Akilesh Kumar Mato, who was working as servant in the house of complainant Satya Prakash, took advantage of absence of the house owner and robbed the articles on Oct 17-2018 and sent it to his native.

On getting a complaint from Satya Prakash against him, a special team was sent to nab him.

The team after reaching his home town, with the help of local police, arrested him and on his information recovered the stolen articles buried on the backyard of his house.

Rs 80 lakhs worth 2 kg diamond studded gold ornaments, half a kg silver articles, steel and gold case wrist watches which he had buried in his house backyard at Piprakamalpura Village in Madubani District, Bihar State, the police said.

Madiwala Police have registered a case and investigating.

Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.

The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.

On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.

Unnao, Jan 3: The Uttar Pradesh Police has submitted a charge sheet in a court here in connection with the death of a 23-year-old Unnao rape victim, who was allegedly set ablaze by five men.

Additional Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Pandey, who is heading a Special Investigation Team in the case, said the charge sheet was submitted on Wednesday.

"There is ample proof against the five accused persons, and the charge sheet was prepared based on those evidences," he said on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Unnao rape victim, who was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 per cent burns after being set on fire, died following a cardiac arrest on December 6, 2019.

The woman was set afire by five men, including two of her alleged rapists, on December 5 morning when she was going to Rae Bareli to attend a court hearing in the rape case filed by her.

In her statement to Sub Divisional Magistrate Dayashankar Pathak, the woman had said she was attacked when she reached Gaura turn near her home on her way to the court.

She had specifically named Harishankar Trivedi, Ram Kishore Trivedi, Umesh Bajpai, Shivam Trivedi and Shubham Trivedi as the persons who set her on fire.

The woman had also alleged that Shivam and Shubham Trivedi had abducted and raped her in December 2018.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.
