Bizman killing caught on camera; Araria, Supaul in Bihar observe bandh to protest two murders

Araria, Apr 19: Markets in Araria and Supaul districts of Bihar observed a spontaneous bandh on Tuesday to protest the killing of two businessmen, one being a local BJP leader and the other related to another BJP worker, in separate incidents in the state.

murderAraria superintendent of police (SP) Sudhir Porika, who examined the CCTV footage of the Forbesganj incident said, “Two persons have been taken into custody and the police are hopeful of nabbing the killers soon.”

The businessman, Krishna Mohan Sah (65) was at his shop in Forbesganj market when criminals entered and stabbed him. The CCTV footage, which the police are relying on, shows a young boy, holding a knife, and dragging the bruised trader by his neck.

The incident took place at around 8.30pm on Monday. The businessman was rushed to the Forbesganj referral hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The deceased was known for his social activities. As the news spread, hundreds of people gathered at his residence in solidarity with the bereaved family.

“It is a barbaric act and we want the killers to be hanged,” said Shambhu Sah, brother of the slain businessman and leader of the BJP Araria unit as well as a former district board member. He also demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

All business associations, including the Chamber of Commerce, have condemned the killing and demanded foolproof security for the business community. They also demanded immediate transfer of top police and civil officials in the district, charging them with laxity.

A few days ago, there was tension in Forbesganj following an incident of eve teasing.The police had arrested over a 12 persons.

Elsewhere, in Supaul, businessmen downed their shutters to protest the killing of Subhash Singh, a businessman and a district BJP leader, who was shot dead at his shop on Monday.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday raided a spa in Koramangala area and rescued six girls.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 11: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly using plastic scrap to make jaggery at Bhokaheri village under Bhopa police station here, as official said on Thursday.

 Police raided a jaggery manufacturing unite (kolhu) and arrested three persons on Wednesday, SHO, Bhopa police station Sanjive Kumar said.

Police have registered a case against five persons including the trio that was arrested while two of them managed to escape, he said, adding that two loaded tractor trollies of plastic scrap have been seized.

Visakhapatnam, Jun 30: Two people were killed and four others were taken ill after benzene gas leaked at a pharmaceutical company at Parawada near here early on Tuesday morning, official sources said.

The situation was now under control as the leak was restricted to one unit in the Sainor Life Sciences company, the sources said.

The two killed were senior employees of the company, they said.

The injured persons have been admitted to a hospital in Gajuwaka, with one of them being put on ventilator support, the sources added.

District Collector V Vinay Chand and Police Commissioner R K Meena visited the company to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the leak that took place in a reactor unit at the plant is yet to be established.

The incident comes nearly two months after 11 people were killed and over 1000 taken ill after gas leak at a chemical plant here.
