Bengaluru, Aug 2: The Karnataka State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), after assuming power in the state again last week, has targeted to enlist as many as 50 lakh new party members, and ten per cent of them will be from Minority communities, a top party leader said on Friday.
Speaking to newsmen here, BJP State General Secretary, N Ravikumar, who is also in-charge for BJP’s membership drive in Karnataka, informed that “so far over 17 lakh new members have been registered as the primary members of the BJP in Karnataka and the target is to increase it to 50 lakhs in coming years”.
During membership drive, more focus would be given in those region, where BJP’s base are not wide, he said that “Party activists had been asked to concentrate in Kalaburagi and Mysuru region to invite, mainly youths and women to the party fold”.
