New Delhi, Apr 28: The BJP today asked the Election Commission to reject the nomination papers filed by Congress candidate Ashok Kheny from Bidar South constituency in Karnataka, saying he submitted an incomplete affidavit which suffers from "several defects".

In a memorandum submitted to the EC by a party delegation, which included Union ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Gen V K Singh (retd), the party made a mention of his business works with the state government and alleged that there are many complaints of corrupt practices against him in collusion with the Congress.

"The returning officer of Bidar South has gravely erred in accepting the nomination of Ashok Kheny. He has accepted an incomplete affidavit that suffers from several defects and does not confirm to the orders issued by the ECI from time to time," it said.

The party said the returning officer's decision is "patently illegal" as it urged the commission to set it aside and reject his nomination papers.
