BJP central leaders back Yediyurappa: BSY regime will be stable, says Amit Shah

New Delhi, Jul 27: Ending speculation that the party high command had differences over backing B S Yediyurappa to make another shot at running a coalition regime in Karnataka, the BJP central leaders backed the new dispensation and hoped it will herald a 'new dawn' for the state.

"Congrats to BS Yediyurappa, newly sworn in CM of Karnataka. I am sure under his leadership and under the guidance of PM Modi, BJP will give a stable, pro-farmer and development oriented govt in the state. I assure people of Karnataka that BJP is committed to fulfil their aspirations," BJP president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted.

Mr Yediyurappa was sworn in as the chief minister of the state for the fourth time on Friday evening and curiously no senior central leaders were present on the occasion.

Kasaragod, Jul 14: Kerala State Excise department officials confiscated hawala money to the tune of Rs 2.85 crore from a person hailing from Mangaluru.

According to sources, the officials of the Kumbala Range Excise had noticed the huge baggage containing hundreds of bundles of unaccounted currencies when they intercepted a vehicle at the border check-post at Thoominad in Manjeshwar early on Tuesday morning.

The accused Shamsudheen, who was trying to transport the illegal money into Kerala has been arrested and handed over to the Manjeshwar police authorities for further action, sources added.

Mysuru, Aug 1: A young covid-19 warrior and activist has become the latest victim of novel coronavirus in Karnataka’s Mysuru district. 

The deceased is Khaleel ur Rahman (27), who was the office manager at Farooqia College of Pharmacy. 

During Covid-19 lockdown, he was working as a volunteer and was part of Mysuru City Corporation team also which is involved in the covid related work. 

Khaleel was also part of the team formed by IAS officer P Manivannan, who led the crucial Covid-19 relief efforts across Karnataka. He was also an activist of Social Democratic Party of India.

During the lockdown, he was distributing groceries and other necessary things among poor and migrants in Mysuru. 

Recently he fell ill and admitted to a private hospital. He was suffering from breathing difficulties. He breathed his last in the hospital without responding to any treatment.

Bengaluru, Apr 5: An elderly couple from Bengaluru

with a travel history to Dubai joined the list of coronavirus patients in the state, taking the total number of cases to 146, the health department said on Sunday.

The list includes four deaths and 11 discharges.

The 68-year old man and his 62-year old wife, hailing from Madiwala in the city, had returned from Dubai on March 22.

They were quarantined at a private hospital and have been asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the government appealed to people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation in New Delhi to contact 080-29711171 Arogya Sahayavani, the medical helpline number.
