BJP trying to buy me too: Minister Rahim Khan

Bengaluru, Jul 21: The BJP, which is continuing its efforts to poach more MLAs from ruling Congress and JD(S) in Karnataka, has reportedly offered a huge amount of cash and ministerial berth to Rahim Khan, Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports. 

“The BJP is making lucrative offers of money and power. They are also threatening our legislators. The latest is MLA for Bidar Rahim Khan,” said KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre.

Stating that the BJP continued its efforts despite Congress MLAs not responding to their pressure tactics, Mr. Khandre appealed to the rebel legislators to return for the sake of their voters.

“The voters have trusted you and made you their elected representative. Come back for their sake,” he said, adding that Governor Vajubhai R. Vala should take note of the ongoing blatant horse-trading by the BJP.

Confirming that he was contacted by the BJP, Mr. Khan said that this attempt was made before the rebel MLAs left for Mumbai. “I got several calls from the BJP asking me to cross over. They were ready to not just pay me a huge sum but also make me a prominent Minister,” he said.

Refusing to name the BJP leader who had called him, Mr. Khan said, “I was told that I would be the first Muslim Minister from the BJP in the State. I did not respond to their offer.”

On Friday, in the Assembly JD(S) member K. Srinivasa Gowda accused BJP legislators of promising him ₹30 crore and offering ₹5 crore in advance to cross over to their party.

Bengaluru Jul 29: There will be a centralised system in place in Karnataka to classify asymptomatic, symptomatic and mild symptomatic persons and recommend treatment based on the severity of the cases, said Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday here.

"Various existing apps related to COVID-19 will be brought under one platform to get real-time information which will assist in strategising allocation of hospitals/beds to the needy. This will probably remove the delay in bed allocation and treatment which is being faced now. The patients will get all information in one phone call," Dr Sudhakar said.

Sudhakar spoke with a team of experts from the government and Infosys.

Referring to a company by name Step 1, which is providing such services in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, the Minister said that a similar system will be implemented in the state as well.

"This company is having a team of doctors and nurses which is guiding the people whether they need hospital treatment or home isolation after they are tested positive for COVID-19. More than 70 per cent of the positive cases are being asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and are advised to go for home isolation," the minister said.

"The load on the hospitals is reduced and severe cases can be administered proper treatment. Infosys co-ordinates with the government to provide technical support for this system," Dr Sudhakar added.

Earlier during the day, the minister held a video conference with the heads of private medical colleges to review COVID preparedness.
The government has already passed guidelines to allocate 50 per cent of hospital beds for COVID patients.

Kasaragod, Apr 30: The Kasaragod District Collector Sajith Babu, his gun man and driver has entered in quarantine on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Collector had been asked to go on quarantine after the reports of a journalist, who interviewed him, was tested positive for the virus.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at his routine evening press conference revealed the positivity of the journalist.

New Delhi, Mar 29: Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan after his discussions with Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, on global oil market developments said that Saudi Arabia has assured India of uninterrupted supply of LPG.

"Had a video conference with HRH Prince Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Energy and Mr Amin Nasser, President and CEO @Saudi_Aramco. We discussed about the global oil market developments and on uninterrupted LPG supplies from Saudi Arabia to India," Pradhan tweeted.
"HRH Prince Abdulaziz assured of LPG supplies in the coming days to support our domestic requirement," Pradhan added.
While there has been a slump in fuel demand owing to the nationwide lockdown, cooking gas demand has reportedly surged in the country.
The Prime Minister had on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown to stem the spread of COVID-19 which has left thousands dead around the world.
