BJP will win 150 seats in next Karnataka Assembly polls: Shobha

Bengaluru, Aug 25: BJP MP and former minister Shobha Karandlaje on Wednesday claimed that a recent report from the central intelligence had estimated that the BJP in the state will win 136 seats if Assembly elections were held now.

Karandlaje told reporters in Bengaluru the BJP is gaining by the day and will meet its target of winning 150 seats in the 2018 Assembly polls. The total strength of the state Assembly is 225.

Following the report, it is learnt that the party central leadership has directed state leaders to work unitedly and aim towards bringing back the party to power.

On Wednesday, BJP?state president B?S?Yeddyurappa held a video conference with party district presidents and functionaries and discussed organisational matters. As many as 16 district units participated in the video conference.

Kundapur, Apr 28: The local police have arrested two people for threatening and preventing an Associated Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers from discharging their duties during the lockdown.

Police said on Tuesday that the arrested are Sandeep Mesta and Mahesh Kharvi.

According to official sources, the health officials had put Sandeep under quarantine for 28 days.

However, he was seen wandering in the streets and ASHA worker C Laxmi warned him to stay indoors.

Irked by the warning Sandeep, along with his friend Mahesh Kharvi waylaid her and threatened to kill for objecting his movement.

Mangaluru,  May 3: An unidentified vehicle mowed down a 62-year-old security guard near Guruvayanakere, Belthangady taluk, on Saturday.

The deceased Lingappa Moolya was returning to his home in Guruvayanakere on a two-wheeler when the hit-and-run case took place. Police said he was hit by a truck. A guard at an ATM, Moolya was also an active member of the local Kulala Association.

A case was registered at Belthangady police station.

Mangaluru, Mar 23: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Monday announced to enhance surveillance along the coastline of Karnataka to strengthen security.

It has tasked its hovercraft in New Mangalore, and high-speed patrol vessels and interceptor boats along the coastline for ensuring foolproof security of the uninhabited islands, Deputy Inspector General S B Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka, said in a release today.
