Bengaluru, Apr 10: The BJP on Sunday demanded that the Office of Chief Electoral Officer (OCEO), Karnataka, should disqualify Kalale Keshavamurthy as Congress candidate in the Nanjangud Assembly bypoll for violating election laws.
In a memorandum submitted to the OCEO, the BJP charged Kalale with wearing a scarf bearing the Congress symbol at the time of casting his vote in Nanjangud. The Congress candidate has violated the election laws by doing so. The issue has been already brought to the notice of Mysuru deputy commissioner, BJP added.
Besides, the BJP took exception to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s close aide K Marigowda reportedly roaming around in the Nanjangud constituency on Sunday. Marigowda is a resident of Birhundi village near Mysuru and not a voter of the Nanjangud Assembly constituency.
His moving around in the constituency has given rise to suspicion that the Congress is indulging in malpractice, the party complained.
