Bengaluru, Nov 10: Congress' Karnataka leader Zameer Ahmed Khan on Saturday asserted that Muslims all across the country were not against the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya while adding that Babri Masjid should also be built alongside temple.

Addressing the media, Khan said, "Not only the Muslims in Karnataka, but Muslims across the country are not against Ram Mandir. Build the Ram Mandir, but our Babri Masjid, which was demolished, should also be constructed. We are not against the temple, we are just demanding our right".

"We say make the temple on one side and the mosque on the other as a sign of peace. Our India is famed for peace. I have been to many countries, but nowhere have I seen any place where Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians live in harmony and with love. But the BJP is spoiling that feeling of brotherhood," Khan added.

The Babri Masjid, built by Mughal emperor Babur in Ayodhya in 1528, was, on December 6, 1992, razed to the ground allegedly by Hindu activists, claiming that the mosque was constructed after demolishing a Ram temple that originally stood there. Since then, several hearings have been held in the Supreme Court regarding this matter.

On October 29, the apex court adjourned the Ayodhya title suit till next year to fix a date for the hearing. The court was hearing a challenge to the 2010 ruling of the Allahabad High Court which divided the disputed land into three parts.

Dear Zahoor, please note that Mr. Zameer is just giving suggestion.  He is not saying that his advice should be followed.  He is right in saying that none of Indian Muslims are agaisnt construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.   SC will also not reject this.   You are also right that we should wait for SC judgement.   All parties should respect SC judgement and those who oppose SC verdict should be treated as traitors and dealt with according to Indian Law.

Zameer Sahab, Don't waste your energy and precious time of public in Babari Masjid issue. Wait for Supreme court verdict. No need your free suggestions or advice.

Mangaluru, Apr 3: The Dakshina Kannada district administration’s decision to ban use of private vehicles, excluding permitted categories, from Friday for effective implementation of lockdown, began showing results since morning itself.

Mangaluru City Traffic Police and Dakshina Kannada district police erected several pickets at vantage places on arterial roads to check those moving without a valid reason. Several two-wheelers were seized during the checking while a few car drivers were let off with a strict warning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M Manjunatha Shetty, who was supervising a picket at Hampankatta, said that movement of private vehicles has drastically reduced in the city.

Tumakuru, Jan 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday slammed the Congress and its allies opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act, saying they are against giving relief to those who have been brutalised and victimised in Pakistan.

"Pakistan was founded on religious grounds due to which atrocities on minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Christians have increased. But Congress and its allies don't speak against Pakistan," he said at a function here.

He also said the Congress and its allies take out rallies and stage demonstrations against the efforts to prevent atrocities on religious lines and save women from sexual assaults.

Modi wondered why those opposed to the CAA were not speaking out against Pakistan's atrocities and asked what stopped them from doing so.

Strongly defending the CAA, he said it was adopted by Parliament in a historic move, but that the Congress and its allies and the ecosystem created by his party's rival were now against the very institution.

He said India cannot leave the Hindus, Christians and Sikhs apparently fleeing Pakistan to "their fate" and added it was the country's responsibility to protect them.

Modi pointed out that the efforts are especially to protect the Dalits and tribals in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the abrogation of Article 370 was a step towards ending terrorism and uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir.
