Buntara Sangha Kuwait hosts Bunta Sammilana-2019

Kuwait: Bunta Sammilana 2019 witnessed a huge gathering of over 150 bunts families at Wafra Chalet on April 5, 2019.

The event was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by the BSK President Mr. Guruprasad Hegde, managing committee members and past BSK presidents.

Bunts Sammilana was open up to a carnival atmosphere with lively and innovative photo booth in the open with decorative floral backdrop and props, typical Mangalorean food & games stall savored the members along with face painting and mehndi for kids and adults.

The fun, togetherness and the overall thrill with selective team games like Treasure Hunt was played with team spirit and well executed by the Cultural secretary Mrs. Shruthi Rai Pakkala.

One of the attraction of the Carnival included Mob dance by BSK members, creatively choreographed by Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Mrs. Sheethal Malli, Mrs. Deepti & Mrs. Soumya. The overall supervision and final choreography of the mob dance was executed by BSK secretary Mr. Dhiraj Shetty. Furthermore kids of different age group showcased their dance talents with foot tapping music by DJ Rathan Rai.

Sports Secretary Mr. Mayuresh Shetty and his sub-committee members organized sportive kids and adult couple games.

The Managing committee had arranged bus tour to the venue which helped members staying in distant location to reach in ease. A luscious lunch was organized and sponsored by one of the leading catering service in Kuwait, Oriental Restaurant.

The event was hosted by in-house BSK energetic, experienced and professional Mr. Manoj Shetty with personal twist and fun.

BSK extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Gokul Bhat for sponsoring Bus transportation service to their members.

Prizes were distributed to the team and sportive games. The event concluded with Vote of Thanks by General Secretary Mr. Dhiraj Shetty.

The event led by the President Mr.Guruprasad Hegde and his Managing Team along with heart warming support by all sub-committee members concluded to a grand success.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
