Campaign to promote peace, humanity in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will be holding a nation-wide campaign on Peace and Humanity' between August 21 and September 4 to address the onslaught of communal fascism in India.

Dakshina Kannada district unit of the JIH too has planned a series of programmes as part of this campaign. The members of the reception committee of the campaign, comprising of prominent persons of the society, on Friday through a press conference urged the people of the district to join hands together to strengthen communal harmony in the region.

Addressing media persons Dr Satyanarayana Mallipatna, an academician and honorary president of the district level reception committee, said that the Dakshina Kanand was passing through a period of turmoil.

“Innocents are being attacked and killed for political reasons. This development is damaging the reputation of the coastal district,” he lamented and called upon the people to establish peace in the society.

1peace“Indian society is pluralistic in nature. The diversity that exists in India in terms of religion, culture and language is highly unique. People of our district should realise this and uphold unity and brotherhood,” he said.

Stating that the main target of the campaign was the youth of the country, he said that the new generation should be standard-bearers of brotherhood, peace, friendship and mutual support and cooperation.

He said that as part of the campaign taluk level goodwill forums will be formed. Besides following programmes will be conducted in the district:

1. Individual visit and distribution of folders and broachers at a wide range. 2. Speech competition for high school students. 3. Essay competition for college students. 4. Street play. 5. Competition of making documentary film. 6. Rural level programmes in all over district. 7. Childrens rally. 8. Multi language kavigoshti. 9. Distribution of two sadhbhavana award at district level. 10. On august 30 symposium at town hall, Mangaluru.

Committee president Prasad Rai Kallimar, vice president Sanjeeva Poojary, general secretary Muhammad Kunhi, and Umar UH were present at the press meet.

Meanwhile, release issued by the JIH stated that the goal of the campaign is to bring about some firm and perceptible changes in society.

“While the objective of this campaign is also to appeal and rouse the conscience of the country, but beyond that our goal is to ensure the establishment of a string of institutions right from the community level to the local level and the promotion of necessary practices to help consistently counter this menace of communal hatred,” it said.

Mangaluru, Jan 3: General Secretary of the All India Sunni Jamiyyatul Ulama, AP Aboobacker Musliyar Kanthapuram, visited the family members of Abdul Jaleel and Nousheen, expressed his condolences.

Jaleel, resident of Bundar Kandak and Nousheen, resident of Kudroli were killed in police firing that took place during the anti-CAA protest in the city on December 19.

Former President of the District Wakf Advisory Committee of Dakshina Kannada SM Rasheed Haji, Corporator Lateef Kandak, Congress leader N S Kareem and Ashraf Kinara, Samsuddin Kudroli were also present.

Meanwhile, a central delegation of the Democratic Youth Federation of India also met the families of the both the victims and expressed solidarity with the kin of the deceased.

The delegation comprised of DYFI national president advocate Mohammad Riyaz, other leaders such as A A Raheem, S Satish, S K Sajeesh, legislator V K Sanoj and DYFI State present Muneer Katipalla.

Indore, Jul 24: A woman who sells fruits on a cart and who lashed out at municipal officials here has done PhD in Materials Science. Her siblings too are well educated and sell fruits as they did not find jobs.

Dr Raisa Ansari, who lives at Bakery Street in Pardeshipura with her family said she wanted to be a scientist but did not get a job anywhere.

Speaking to media persons, Raisa said, "I have done PhD in Materials Science and wanted to be a scientist but did not get job anywhere. I sell fruit here but the municipal officials are bothering us. We are being forced to move from here to there like cattle. Our religion may be the reason why we are not getting jobs but we are proud to be Indian. I am still looking for a job."

Dr Raisa's mother Ayesha Ansari said she herself is not educated, but has four children of whom three girls and one boy studied a lot but no one got job.

Speaking to media persons Ayesha said, "I have four children and they are well educated. I have not studied but all my children are educated but did not get job so all of them sell fruits."

"When the matter came to marriage, one of the daughters got married. Raisa and Shahjahan Bi wanted an educated boy, but they were not able to find a suitable match because of their complexion and sometimes they rejected the proposal because of dowry, so both are single. Two of my grandchildren are studying biology. They will become doctors," said Ayesha.

Meanwhile, people in the neighbourhood lauded the family's abilities. They said theirs was an educated family had to sell fruits as they did not get jobs.

Kasaragod, Apr 10: The death of five cats in the general hospital-turned-Covid-19 isolation centre here recently has evoked a little bit of scare among the health authorities who are eagerly awaiting the viscera test results of the dead animals.

The death of the cats has evoked anxiety in the backdrop of a tiger in a zoo in United States tested positive for Covid-19 recently.

It was recently that the hospital authorities had noticed the death of the cats, which include two male and a female adult and two kittens, were long been seen in and around the hospital compound.
