Kasaragod, Jun 3: The police have registered a case against the manager of Essa School at Perwad, near Kumbla, for allegedly misbehaving with a woman teacher.

On a complaint filed by the teacher, the Kumbla police on Thursday registered a case against the school manager, whom the teacher accused of talking to her in a sexually explicit manner, a senior police officer said.

Declining to reveal the identity of the school manager, the police said they had registered the case under provisions of Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code after the dispute was taken to the local women's cell.

Police sources said the teacher had been seeking enhanced remuneration for nearly three years, which the school manager rejected. The police said they would frame charges only after completing the investigation into the case.

Mandya, Jul 6: With a journalist from Srirangapatna testing positive for Covid-19, the Mandya District Journalists Association was sealed as a precautionary measure.

Association President K C Manjunath said on Monday that as the reporter has tested positive for Covid-19, it was voluntarily decided to seal down the premises for another month.

Tumakuru, Jun 20: An SSLC student of Siddaganga Mutt here was admitted to the isolation ward of the district hospital on Saturday after he showed Covid-19 symptoms.

Health officials said that the student, a native of the Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, had returned to the Mutt via Raichur on June 15 for writing the SSLC examination scheduled to begin on June 25.

After he was admitted to the hospital the Health Department Officials kept three of his roommates under quarantine. Throat swab sample of the student has also been sent for testing.

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
