Censor Board behaving like Taliban, says filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj

Mumbai, Mar 21: The CBFC has been under a lot of scrutiny ever since former Censor Board Chief Leela Samson decided to quit. Pahlaj Nihalani was brought in her place to put an end to the controversies, but it looks like he has managed to spark more fire with his recent decisions.

Putting out new censorship rules almost after every meeting, the Censor Board’s decisions to chop off some cuss words and censor certain type of scenes in films has definitely raised the hackles of Indian filmmakers.

Vishal BhardwajDirector Vishal Bhardwaj, in a recent interview, also shot back at the Board. When questioned about the Board’s decision to censor abuses from films, Vishal clearly stated that the Censor Board was behaving like the ‘Taliban’.

He also requested the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to put an end to the mess and asked the Government to restrict actions of the Board. Films being the ‘mirrors of reality’, are another form of art and Vishal clarified that more than creating reality, films reflect the reality. Condemning their dominating nature, Vishal said that the Censor Board’s ‘scissors should be snatched away and thrown into a valley’.

But will such protests bring about a change in the Censor Board’s functions? Only time will tell.

New Delhi, Aug 4: Almost two months after the demise of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, actor Preity Zinta on Tuesday watched his last film 'Dil Bechara' for the second time and said it was an 'emotional roller coaster'.

The 'Kal Ho Na Ho' actor shared a picture of one of the scenes from the film on Instagram and thanked film director Mukesh Chhabra for doing justice to the 'Kai Po Che!' actor's last film.

"Saw #Dilbechara again Thank you @castingchhabra for doing full justice to Sushant's last movie," she wrote in the caption.
"It was surreal, a tearjerker and an emotional roller coaster all the way," she added.

She also praised Sushant's co-actor Sanjana Sanghi for doing a "fab job" in the film which happens to be her debut flick.

"@sanjanasanghi96 U and the rest of the cast did a fab job. Congratulations to all of you. #Bittersweet #MissU," the 45-year-old actor further wrote.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, 'Dil Bechara' has been adapted from the famous John Green novel 'The Fault In Our Stars.'

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai's Bandra residence on June 14.

New Delhi, Jun 18: Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan valley.

The 'Fashion' actor who is currently living in America with her singer husband Nick Jonas took to Twitter to extend support to the families of the fallen soldiers.

"My heart goes out to the soldiers and their families. May God give them the strength to cope with this irreparable loss," she tweeted.

Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in a violent face-off with Chinese troops on Monday at Galwan Valley in Ladakh.

Feb 2: After creating a buzz with her recent low-key marriage, actor and model Pamela Anderson recently broke off her marriage with famous movie mogul Jon Peters, after just 12 days the wedding, reported Fox News.

The couple got married on January 20 in Malibu, California in a private marriage ceremony.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the couple's split on Saturday stating that the pair has decided to "uncouple."

"I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union. We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to reevaluate what we want from life and from one another," Fox News quoted Anderson saying.

"Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process, "she added.

Fox News further quoted a source close to Anderson as saying, "She's known Jon forever, but she never lived with him, contrary to some reports. And until you live with someone... Well, let's just say Pamela asked for a break. She is heading back to her compound in Ladysmith, Canada, to be with her family."

According to Fox News, the couple did not have any official marriage license.
