Chelur GP Development Officer arrested while accepting bribe

Bengaluru, Jan 25: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers have caught a Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) while accepting bribe for issuing ownership certificate for a site allotted under Ashraya scheme to a villager.

According to a ACB release here on Friday, Tumkur District, Chelur Gram Panchayat PDO R Siddeshwar had demanded Rs 60,000 bribe and was caught while accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant for issuing the ownership right certificate.

Siddeshwar was arrested and the bribe amount was recovered. A case has been registered under Anti-Corruption Act and investigation is in progress.

Mandya, Jul 6: With a journalist from Srirangapatna testing positive for Covid-19, the Mandya District Journalists Association was sealed as a precautionary measure.

Association President K C Manjunath said on Monday that as the reporter has tested positive for Covid-19, it was voluntarily decided to seal down the premises for another month.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.
