CIGI 2nd int’l thematic conference ends; leaders urged to take up daunting tasks

Kuwait City: The two-day long CIGI 2nd Thematic conference hosted by CIGI (Centre for Information and Guidance India) Kuwait Chapter was concluded recently at Crown Plaza with a ground-breaking gala leadership Summit. The summit was attended by Embassy officials, leaders of CIGI from India and various GCC chapters, Prominent figures from Kuwait’s business and social arena, leaders of main stream organizations active in Kuwait along with Kuwait TV and other media personalities. 

Dr. Amir Ahmed, Chairman of CIGI Kuwait chapter in his presidential address stressed CIGI’s greater rolesof upbringing the weaker class of the society by Education, irrespective of their religion caste or creed.Dr. Amirurged leaders to take up the daunting tasks, so as to enable the weaker society to cope with the potential challenges and reach greater heights of excellence. “We all know that a leader is the one who is resourceful, tolerant, peaceful, inclusive, humble and filled with empathy for the weak. Instead of leaving them to dwell in their weak social, economic and literacy situation, CIGI as a prominent NGO should play a much bigger role in upbringing the weaker section and transforming them in to educated, resourceful and responsible citizens, contributing positively in the nation building process and promoting a peaceful and progressive society” Dr. Amir continued.

The summit was formally inaugurated by Shri Krishan Kumar Pahel, First Secretary, Embassy India, Kuwait and in his inaugural speech he applauded CIGI’s two decades long activities in the field of Education inGCCas well as in India and appreciated CIGI for playing a unique role in the empowerment of the marginalized sector of the society by supporting them to have higher Education, Career guidanceand thus enabling them to acquire better status intheir life.

Guests of honour Shaikh Nourie Al Nourie and C.P. KunjhuMuhammed in their felicitation speeches praised CIGI for its unique services in the field of Education for the less privileged sector of the society. Shri K.K. Pehel released “Compass - CIGI Hand Book 2018”,a reference careers guidance book, by Giving a copy to Mr. AlNourie.

In his keynote speech at the opening session, CIGI President P.A. Abdussalam described the 20 years of CIGI’s active Social, Educational and Career engagements aimed at the transformation of the weaker society by inculcating self-confidence and self-respect in the younger generation and thus prepare them to face the dynamic socio-economic situation with confidence, through various programs throughout Kerala and other gulf countries.

CIGI Int’l Chairman MuhamedFirozMeethalin his key note speech explained the strategic pillars of ‘CIGI’s Vision 2030” focused on Education, Employment and Empowerment of the poor and less privileged section of the society, irrespective of their religion, cast or creed,to lead and drive them to excellence in all walks of life, withdignity, progress, prosperity. 

Dr. A.B. MoideenKutty – Director of the Kerala Government’s Directorate of Minority Welfare Department, in his key note address explained various schemes, employment projects, different types of scholarships, premarital counselling for youths and other benefits offered by the Government of Kerala for the minorities.

The two-day long CIGI Thematic conferencestartedon Thursday evening and continued on Friday morning 8:00 AM till 5:30 PM with active participation of delegates from within Kuwait as well as from other Gulf states and India and have witnessed several brainstorming sessionsaimed to generate ideas,that would eventually be transformed into projects.Friday’s Morning session started with recitation of versus from Holy Quran by HammadAbdulrahiman, Chief coordinator Abdul Majeed M.M welcomed the delegates, CIGI Int’l Vice Chairman K.V. Shamsudheen led the panel for discussion and the session was presided over by CIGI Int’l Chairman MuhamedFiroz.  After the preparation of the functional Model CIGI president P.A. Abdussalam summarized the discussion papers and CIGI Int’l Chairman concluded the session to proceed further with the conference to the final Leadership summit.

The community leadership summit started earlier by recitation of Holy Quran by HasilUnus followed by Kuwait and Indian National anthems.The Whole event was brought to success and turned in to a memorable event by the flawless supervision, timely intervention and follow up by the Kuwait Chapter Vice chairman Faseehullah Abdullah and his team including Abdul Rahman, Abdul Ghafoor, Hameed Mathur and Abdul Jabbar in providing the logistical, technical, transportation and above all arranging visa, accommodation etc., for the delegates who came from far and wide.  Sameer Mohamed, ShemsyNiharaand Sajid Ibrahim done the editing and designing of “Compass - CIGI Hand Book 2018”. CIGI Kuwait Chapter chairman Dr. Amir Ahmed presided over the community leadership summit session, Senior Visionary SagheerTrikarpur welcomed the gathering, Ashraf Vaakath compered the event and Chief coordinator Abdul Aziz proposed the vote of thanks.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Jeddah: Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF) under the patronage of consulate General of India Jeddah related to welfare activities connected to Indian hajj pilgrims in particular and welfare functions of Indian community at large, organized Quran recitation competition for Indian students of age 10 to 14 residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Grand Finale was conducted Live online via Zoom virtual conference on Friday 15th May 2020 at 14:45 Hrs.

The Consul General Of India, Jeddah and Vice Patron IPWF, H.E.Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Shiekh graced the Grand Finale as honorable Chief Guest. The HOC, Consul Hajj and Director IPWF - Mr. Y Sabir attended as Guest of Honor, while the ever-exuberant President of the forum Mr. Ayyub Hakeem lead the event. A large number of Indian dignitaries and media personnel also joined this live event.

Judges panel included three experienced youths. First judge was the Prominent Hafiz and one of the best Qaris of his calibre, Hafiz Ismail Yahya Bilal, well educated in Qirat from Umm Al Qura University Makkah and currently persuing Masters. He also holds many honors and accolades from various international competitions and appreciations from Imaams of Haramain. The other judge, Hafiz Abdullah A.Mateen Usmani, first position winner, a record for being youngest Indian to win Jeddah Quran competition 2018 under patronage of Jeddah Governor.  Hafiz Farhan Abdur Rab, was the third judge, an Engineer by profession, as well as current Treasurer at IPWF.

Winners; Humeirah Masood Kazi and Furqan Mohammed Vasi Ahmed won Gold position. Maryam Jaffar and Adil Abdul Rasheed ranked Silver while Khatija Ehtesham Ali and Nadeem Noorisha ranked Bronze. Consolation prizes were given to Aamina Mustafa and Mohammed Ahsan Ali. The event was organized to encourage and boost the ambitions of young generation and inspring them to bring out their best in Quran Recitation

While speaking at the event Chief Guest H.E.Mr. Md.Noor Rahman Sheikh appreciated the social works of IPWF for Indian Community, praised the brilliant performance of students, He said it gives us great pleasure seeing that all participants, Judges and Jury members are Indians, he said the recitation of the children was fantabulous, and congratulated to the winners and participants. Chief Guest further said President Ayyub Hakeem and his IPWF Team deserves to be appreciated for their relentless efforts for this Noble cause, even in this period when the world is observing lockdown.

HOC, Consul Hajj Mr. Y Sabir appreciated IPWF team for organizing this virtual competition, he said it’s really amazing that 111 students registered to participate for the contest, he appreciated the hard work of children and efforts of parents for preparing their children.

Mr. Hakeem welcomed all and informed that this competition received overwhelming response from Indian community locally and internationally in short time since its launch was just couple of days earlier. Which compliments events Objective to encourage children “mainly Indians residing in Saudi Arabia” especially during the month of Quran “Ramadan” and lockdown period #COVID-19. 

40 contestants made it to the Semifinals, and 15 Students reached the Grand Finale, 2 young children were given consolation for their enthusiastic recitation. 

The President also appreciated his IPWF Team for unwavering support in preparation of this event.  He thanked the Chief Guest, HE Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh and Guest of Honor Mr. Y Sabir for gracing this glorious competition. He Thanked the audience and announced that all contestants will be awarded appreciation “digital certificate’

Syed Nasir Khursheed anchored the program, and entertained with beautiful Urdu couplets. Farhan Abdur Rab and Abdul Rahman Poyakkara conducted the contest flawlessly on time. Farhan, concluded the event with Vote of Thanks and soleful dua.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
