Lucknow, Jan 18: In a chilling reminder of the murder of a class II student in a Gurgaon school last year, a class I student has been brutally stabbed in his school toilet in Lucknow.

The seven-year-old, who was allegedly attacked on Tuesday by a senior girl student, is battling for life at the trauma centre of King George's Medical University (KGMU) here.

What is more shocking is the reason behind this act: The boy told the police late on Wednesdaythat the girl while beating him, said that she was doing so to get the school to close early. The incident took place at the Brightland Inter College school in Triveninagar on Tuesday but was reported only when the KGMU authorities revealed it to the media.

The victim was reportedly stabbed in the chest and abdomen and locked inside the toilet by the girl. The designated discipline head of the school, Amit Singh Chauhan heard his cries and found him in a pool of blood and his mouth stuffed with a cloth. The boy was immediately taken to a private hospital from where he was referred to KGMU.

The hospital authorities told the boy’s parents that he had met with an accident. The police were reportedly informed only when the media reached the hospital.

The district inspector of schools has issued a show-cause notice to the school for not informing the police about the incident in time. The police is also questioning the 12-year-old, class VI girl who was identified by the victim with the help of a photograph.

“A didi with boy-cut hair called me, saying a teacher had asked for me. She took me to the bathroom and slapped me. Then she attacked me with a sharp object,” the boy told police in his statement, according to Times of India. During the second round of questioning in the evening, he told police, “When I asked didi why she was beating me, she said: I want the school to declare an early closure today.”
