“I will not tolerate any sort of infighting,” the 74-year-old Lingayat strongman said while addressing party workers here on Monday.

He directed district-level party leaders to keep an eye on workers who are not pitching in to campaign for the party's candidates contesting for the South Graduates' constituency.

“Those do not work hard for the party will not get any responsibility in the party in the coming days. If you want to play a role in the BJP in the coming days, you have to show your commitment to the party's growth by winning the seat,” he said.

Furthermore, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for a “Congress-free India”, and the onus is on the party workers to achieve this.

“Modi's achievements have made the whole world look at India. People of Karnataka are also eager to have BJP rule in the State too. We can't build the party through slogans alone. We need to meet voters and convince them,” he said.

On the Kannadigas stuck in the Uttarakhand floods, Yeddyurappa said he had consulted the officials and ministers concerned at the Centre and appealed for necessary measures to bring them back home.

Former legislator B.V. Karigowda joined the BJP in the presence of Mr. Yeddyurappa. The BJP candidate for the South Graduates' constituency, M.V. Ravishankar; former ministers C.T. Ravi and C.H. Vijay Shankar; and M.K. Pranesh, G. Madhusudan, and Thontadarya, both MLCs, were present.

Kasaragod, April 9: After Supreme Court intervened and settled the Border issue with Karnataka authorities who had consented to allow the critically-ill patients from in and around Kasaragod and nearby areas to cross over to nearby Mangalore for getting urgent and critical care treatment, the Karnataka authorities is alleged to continue to be hostile either by blocking way ahead or turning a deaf ear to the patients reaching there.

It was on Wednesday onwards that the check post at Thalapadi near here on the Kozhikode-Mangalore National Highway was opened for the critically-ill patients to cross over to Mangalore hospitals for medical treatment.

However, reports reaching here said two out of the three critically-ill patients, who made it to Mangalore were allegedly ill-treated or given no treatment forcing them to return back to Kerala.

Chikkamgaluru, Feb 21: Wazi Noronha, aka, Vojald, the father of Amulya Leona Noronha, who lives in Koppa taluk of Chickmagalur district has said that he was shocked by his daughter’s pro-Pakistan slogans.

“Let her rot in jail. I don’t mind if police break her bones, I don’t support what she said and I will not approach lawyers for her bail. She has committed a grave mistake,” he said.

Amulya, a 19-year-old student activist, was booked for sedition yesterday after she raised ‘Long Live Pakistan’ slogans at a CAA-NRC rally. A visibly embarrassed Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM chief and MP tried to snatch the mic away from her and slammed her. Karnataka Police have registered a case under IPC Section 124A (Offence of sedition) against Amulya.

Mr. Wazi, who owns a two-acre areca plantation and runs a poultry farm, said he would not make any attempts to get her bail. “Let the law take its course. I cannot approve of her statement,” he said.

He said he had cautioned his daughter against getting involved in protests. “I told her to complete studies first and later she could fight for poor people. But what she said yesterday is not acceptable. I don’t know what made her so. I hope a probe would bring out who prompted her to make such statements,” he said.

Mr. Wazi also admitted that he was associated with BJP and had worked for saffronite leaders like Shobha Karandlaje and D N Jeevaraj.
