Miryalaguda, Sept 17: Peramalla Pranay Kumar, the 23-year-old Dalit man, who was killed on Friday afternoon, eight months after he married upper caste girl, was laid to rest here on Sunday.

His pregnant wife Amrutha, who was brought home from hospital on Saturday night, was inconsolable.

“I can’t live without him, but I will, for my baby, and to fight against caste system. No one should experience this pain,” said grief-stricken Amrutha, in her fifth month of pregnancy.

‘Betrayal’

Heart-rending scenes were witnessed when Ajay, Pranay’s brother, who is pursuing medicine in Ukraine, arrived for the funeral around about 2.30 p.m.

“What happened to my brother is betrayal. Maruthi Rao (the girl’s father) should be kept in jail,” he Ajay, grieving with his family members Balaswamy, Premalatha and Amrutha.

Pranay’s body was carried in a freezer box along with his family members and relatives on a tractor, and as per Christian customs, and his body was placed in a coffin before burial.

The town came to a standstill with the three-km funeral procession that passed through the town centre and St. Mary’s Church, while ‘Jai Bheem’ and ‘Lal Salaam’ slogans by various student and voluntary organisations rent the air.

Global thinker, my foot.

This girl is a PERSON and has her own mind.  Cant you respect her wishes...

If father loves the girl, cant he change rather than expecting the girl to change.

He should be sentenced to death soon. Why did he save his daughter and kill somebody elses son. His partents loved him and took care of him too. Did they kill the girl?

New Delhi, Mar 7: No country in the world says everybody is welcome, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday, hitting out at those criticising India over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Jaishankar criticised the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for its criticism on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying its director had been wrong previously too and one should look at the UN body's past record on handling the Kashmir issue.

"We have tried to reduce the number of stateless people through this legislation. That should be appreciated," he said when asked about the CAA at the ET Global Business Summit. "We have done it in a way that we do not create a bigger problem for ourselves."

"Everybody, when they look at citizenship, have a context and has a criterion. Show me a country in the world which says everybody in the world is welcome. Nobody says that," the minister said.

The external affairs minister said moving out of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was in the interest of India's business.

Asked about the UNHRC director not agreeing with India on the Kashmir issue, Jaishankar said: "UNHRC director has been wrong before.

"UNHRC skirts around cross-border terrorism as if it has nothing to do with country next door. Please understand where they are coming from; look at UNHRC's record how they handled Kashmir issue in past," he added.

New Delhi, Apr 23: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar, on Thursday condemned the attack on Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami saying that this is "against democracy".

"We condemn the attempt to attack renowned journalist Arnab Goswami. Essentially, we condemn every attack on any journalist. Because this is against democracy," the Union Minister said.

"It is really ironical that those who preach tolerance have become so intolerant. Therefore, we condemn this attempt. We appeal to the collective wisdom that this is undemocratic. As per present law, definitely, police takes action, if there is a complaint," said Javadekar.

Two persons were arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly attacking Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and his wife Samyabrata Ray in Mumbai.
