Mysuru, Apr 15: Upping ante against chief minister Siddaramaiah, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy has said that Congress cannot win more than 40 seats in upcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that the JD(S) will be the 'king' and not 'kingmaker' as, according to him, it will win over 100 seats and emerge as single largest party.
In response to the poll survey conducted by a media house, recently, Kumaraswamy said that media adviser to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Dinesh Amin Mattu, has worked in the survey.
"I know how he (Mattu) influenced the survey. I have every document of it. According to the survey, while the Congress is expected to win 90-101 seats, the BJP may win 78-86 seats, and JD(S) is expected to win 34-43 seats. JD(S) will play the role of kingmaker in the state.
“However, people have decided to make us the king and not kingmakers. In the 2004 elections, the then survey had projected that the JD(S) will win just two seats. But, we won 52 Assembly segments. Compared to 2004, the party is much stronger," Kumaraswamy said.
