Magnaluru, Mar 14: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee has dismissed Abul Sattar as its general secretary for allegedly misbehaving with a woman councillor of the party recently.
In a statement here, DCC president Harish Kumar said Mr. Sattar was being dismissed with immediate effect.
Mr. Kumar said that the party has also issued a show-cause notice to the woman councillor for going to the media with the issue.
Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.
Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.
A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.
Bengaluru, Apr 6: Popular Kannada comedy actor Prakash, popularly known as Bullet Prakash in the film industry, died due to multi-organ failure at a private hospital in the City on Monday.
He was 44.
He is survived by wife, one son and a daughter.
Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.
As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.
Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.
Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),
Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.
