Bengaluru, Dec 4: The coordination committee meeting of Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka will be held tomorrow (December 5) under the chairmanship of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The meeting assumes significance amidst fresh attempts of Operation Kamala by Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the main agenda is expected to be the discussion on long pending cabinet expansion. Congress has 6 Ministers post to be filled as per understanding and JD(S) has to fill one post.

Among other issues which are likely to be raised in the meeting include complaints by Congress legislators regarding decreased outlay for their constituency by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who also holds finance portfolio.

The issue on continuation of Congress-JDS coordination for the Lok Sabha 2019 election is also likely to come up during the meeting.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP of destabilising the government. “We have information that MLAs are offered Rs 25 crore to join the BJP. Where does the money come for peration Kamala (Lotus)? Whose money is it?” he asked while speaking to reporters.

“The BJP had made a futile attempt to come to power in the past. One needs to accept the fact that they do not have the majority. They should be ashamed to say that they will destabilise the government. They (BJP) will not be successful in destabilising the coalition government in the state,” he said.

Udupi, Jul 26: Two persons including a lady doctor have been arrested by the Kaup police in Udupi district for trying to use fake salary documents to avail loan from a bank to buy a car.

According to police, on July 24, the doctor had visited Bank of Baroda's branch office at Kaup Moodabettu. She had approached the branch manager for a car loan for herself and her brother. She claimed that her monthly salary is Rs 2.66 lakh.

The bank verified the details furnished along with the loan application. The bank found that even though the doctor had furnished salary slips of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, she was presently not employed there.

The bank manager has filed a complaint at Kaup police station, accusing the doctor of trying to cheat the bank by availing loan on the basis of fake documents.

The police registered a case and nabbed her when she visited the Katapady branch of the same bank today. The police also arrested a man, who according to the doctor, created fake documents for her.

Bengaluru, Jan 10: Working President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Eashwar Khandre on Friday said that his party has extended its support to the demand made by the former chief minister of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, that a House Committee should be formed to probe into Mangaluru violence.

Emphasising the need for a judicial probe into the incident, Khandre said, "Congress has always said that the truth should prevail and that there should be a judicial inquiry and investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge or a High Court judge into the incident."

"We support his (HD Kumaraswamy) statement that a House Committee should be set up to probe into the incident of Mangaluru violence. Two innocent people lost their lives during the anti-CAA protest, it is very unfortunate," he added.

Two people were killed in Mangaluru in the alleged police firing after protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act turned violent on December 19.

The Act grants Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh who entered India on or before 31, 2014.
