Cop sits on woman officer's lap; pic goes viral on social media

Jammu, Nov 21: Pictures of a white-bearded policeman purportedly sitting on the lap of a woman Special Police Officer (SPO) in a police station in Rajouri district has gone viral on social media, prompting authorities to suspend him.

CopTwo pictures were posted in Facebook and WhatsApp in which Head Constable Zakir Hussain was seen sitting on the lap of a woman SPO who was seated on a chair in Budhal in Police Station.

"The incident took place in August this year. Soon after the pictures came to our notice, we have suspended the Head Constable namely Zakir Hussain posted at Police Station Budhal and attached him to the District Police Lines for this shameful act," said AK Atri, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Rajouri-Poonch Range.

A probe has been ordered and action has been initiated against the woman SPO and others of the department involved in the act, he said.

There is zero-tolerance to such shameful acts in police, the DIG said.

Bengaluru, Jun 7: A 27-year-old man was allegedly killed using deadly weapons by unidentified people here, police said.

The incident took place at deceased, Arvind's rented house in LBS Nagar inside HAL police station limits.

According to police, Arvind is an accused in a criminal case and recently walked out of jail on bail.

Bengaluru, Feb 5: City Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru City have arrested two drug peddlers from Kerala and have seized banned products from their possession.

According to officials the arrested persons have been identified as Shinto Thomas (35) of Wayanad and Tajudden Talat (29) of Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have seized 4 kg 350 grams of Hashish oil, 21.5 kgs of Ganja, Rs. 9300 cash, two mobile phones, two ganja crushing tools, and 625 empty boxes and other articles from them", police said in a statement.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.
