Bengaluru, Dec 19: The Bengaluru city police have detained acclaimed historian Ramachandra Guha and others who were trying stage protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), during a state-wide protest here on Thursday.
According to official sources, Mr Guha was detained by the city police, when he was speaking to the electronic media and expressing his concern over the CAA.
He was holding a poster of Mahatma Gandhi while detained by the police.
Mangaluru Jun 18: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, June 18, reported 23 fresh covid-19 cases, taking the total number of the cases detected in the district to 401.
Among the 23 corona-positive patients, there are 21 males and two females.
21 are Saudi returnees, while the other two have contracted infection from P-6618.
No cases were reported in Udupi district on Thursday.
The total number of cases in Udupi is 1,039, with only 92 cases being currently active. As many as 946 patients including 38 on Thursday who recovered have been discharged from hospital.
Bengaluru, Mar 15: The Karnataka government has intensified screening all international passengers at airports by classifying them into three risk categories.
Passengers, who are symptomatic on arrival fall under risk category 1, those aged above 60 and have Symptoms fall under category 2. Those who fall in both these categories are being quarantined at designated facilities for 14 days from arrival.
Asymptomatic passengers arriving from any of the COVID-19 affected countries will fall under category 3 and will be advised to be under strict home quarantine for 14 days, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said here on Sunday.
Mangaluru, Apr 18: Three people, including a woman, who were being treated at the city's Wenlock Hospital have been discharged after they recovered from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
With this, a total of 12 people who had tested positive for the virus until Thursday have been discharged from various hospitals in Dakshina Kannada.
A 39-year-old advocate from Uppinangady tested positive for Covid -19 on Friday, he has been admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and is being treated. With this, only one COVID-19 positive patient is being treated at Wenlock Hospital till Friday evening.
