The police said that three powerful crude bombs were seized from a homestead of an uninhabited house at Muzhakkunnu, near Iritty, here in the morning.

The area has been tense following the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker M. Bineesh on September 3. The bombs were found beneath a heap of bricks, the police said.

The police also recovered three more crude bombs from Pallikkunnu here in the afternoon. The police said that the bombs were found in a compound close to a local temple at Pallikkunnu. The police had unearthed two crude bombs from a nearby plot on Wednesday.

The police said that Pathiriyad here, where a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was stabbed late night on September 7, observed a hartal in protest against the stabbing of another BJP worker Navjith. He has been admitted to a hospital in Kozhikode with serious stab injuries in his legs and hands, the police said. The BJP alleged that the attack was carried out by CPI(M) workers. Dammam, May 29: A woman hailing from Mangaluru, who was waiting for repatriation amidst coronavirus lockdown in Saudi Arabia, passed away yesterday after a brief illness.

The deceased has been identified as Lateefa (55), wife of Abdul Azeez, a resident of Angaragundi near Baikampady on the outskirts of the city.

She had flown to Saudi Arabia in November 2019 along with her husband to spend some time with their NRI son in Dammam. They were supposed to return in April this year.

After the sudden cancellation of regular flights due to lockdown, they were waiting for the repatriation flights from Dammam to Mangaluru or Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Lateefa’s health condition worsened and she was hospitalised. She passed away on Thursday without responding to any treatment. Last rites are expected to take place in Dammam.

Udupi, Apr 24: While several state governments and NGOs are actively working to provide essentials to the needy amid the COVID-19 lockdown, a fisherwoman in Karnataka's Udupi has proved that even a small gesture of help for others can make a huge difference in the society.
A fisherwoman, Sharadakka, distributed rice to 140 needy families in her neighbourhood during the ongoing lockdown. The contribution was made by spending all her life savings amounting to Rs 30,000. The amount was saved by her over a period of time in an effort to build a house for herself.
On Thursday Udupi Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadeesh visited her and ensured help to build her house.
"Spending her meagre earnings, Sharadakka generously filled many empty stomachs amid the nation-wide lockdown, which is a matter of pride," said the Deputy Commissioner.
