Cow slaughter ban, crime against women Eshwarappa’s main poll planks

Shivamogga, Apr 9: K S Eshwarappa, the leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, has indirectly made it clear that development will not be his main plank in upcoming legislative elections.

The BJP has already issued B Form to Eshwarappa to contest May 12 Assembly polls from Shivamogga urban constituency. He is expected to file nomination on April 19

The former deputy chief minister told media persons on Monday that that (sensational) issues like cow slaughter ban and crime against women would be his main poll planks.

He dared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to win Chamundeshwari seat first before talking of becoming chief minister again.

Forget about ban on cow slaughter. Why are you selling your mother to foreigners by exporting it. If you dare, stop beef export then talk about ban cow slaughter. Bloody coward.

Mangaluru, Apr 23: Playing the role of a good samaritan, the owner of a commercial complex and houses has waived off a month’s rent at Panemangalore in Bantwal.

B H Complex owner Mohammed Hassan has waived the rent of 21 shops and 12 houses in the complex. Due to Lockdown, people are without jobs and are struggling to eke out a living and Mr Hassan's good gesture helps them.

Hailing from Barimaru, Mr Hassan, who was working in foreign country, has come down and settled here. He had constructed houses and commercial complex and was living on the rent he was receiving.

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary has urged the people not to be afraid of coronavirus and lead a healthy lifestyle as he was discharged from hospital after completely recovering from covid-19.

The 83-year-old Billawa stalwart was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city for over two weeks as he was tested positive for the coronavirus. Today he was discharged from the hospital. 

“There is no need to be worried about the covid-19. People should consume nutritious and immunity boosting food and lead a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

He also urged the people to follow all necessary guidelines such as maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and washing hands frequently to prevent the spread of the virus.

Mangaluru, Jan 21: The city police arrested the auto driver of the auto-rickshaw allegedly used by the suspect to place the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Mangaluru International Airport.

The identity of the auto driver is yet to be ascertained.

The police are currently interrogating the auto driver to obtain details about the suspect, according to reports.

The IED recovered from a bag at the airport was defused in an open field by the personnel of the bomb disposal squad yesterday.

The visuals of the suspect have also been shared by the police for his identification.
