Saudi murder shrouded in mystery, awaits investigation

Jeddah, December 14: A Saudi national has been murdered in mysterious circumstances at his home in Al-Nakheel in eastern Jeddah. The man was stabbed to death by an assailant whose identity remains unknown.


Jeddah Police Spokesman, First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, said: “An Asian expatriate made an urgent report to the security authorities about a dead body in Al-Nakheel District.”


Security teams rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area for a distance of 800 meters to preserve forensic evidence.


“Field investigations are being conducted by policemen from Al-Samer Police Station in cooperation with the Anti-homicide Unit. The results of the investigations are expected to be issued soon,” he added.

Five Bajrang Dal activists have been arrested for allegedly indulging in vandalism in the city on Valentines Day, police said.

They said about 10 to 15 activists on two wheelers vandalised a shop in Kattupalli area in Hyderabad on February 14.

They held aloft flags and raised slogans against celebration of Valentines Day and "created havoc" at different malls, a police press release said.

On receiving information, police rushed to a mall, but the Bajrang Dal activists escaped from the spot.

Five of them were later identified with the help of CCTV footage and arrested, police said.

The others too have been identified and efforts were on to nab them, police said.

Two cases have been registered against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code on a complaint from shop owners, the release said.

Puducherry,Mar 26: Congress legislator from Kamaraj Nagar constituency John Kumar has been booked on charges of violating lock-down rules, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said on Thursday.

In a Whats app posting she further said that an FIR has been registered under the Disaster management Act.

She stated John Kumar in an irresponsible manner allowed more than 200 people to gather outside his house and distributed doles personally when lock down was enforced in the country.

A criminal case has been registered against him for blatant violation of law despite mass information and media messages.Instead of following the law, he chose to violate it,she further stated.

The LG added that as per the ground report by IGP Surendra Yadav, there was perceptible improvement in enforcement of lock down and public were aware and cooperative.Vehicles carrying essential supplies and personnel were moving and every day is an improvement.
