Bangalore, December 25: A measly Rs. 20 and a girl seem to be the reasons for the brutal bludgeoning of a mechanic recently by his friend in a godown at Adapete in Nelamangala.

Nelamangala Town police arrested Kaiser (20), a daily wage labourer, for the murder of Afroz Pasha (22), whose mutilated body was found wrapped in cloth on December 21.

According to officials at the scene, Afroz Pasha was bludgeoned with a grindstone that was lying in the godown where Kaiser and the victim had rested for the night.

When the murder came to light, Kaiser was nowhere to be seen. He was, however, arrested on Saturday.

During interrogation, he told the police the two had been friends. “Even though they often fought over the same girl, they still kept in touch,” said a police official.

On the night of December 20, the two were inebriated when they began fighting again. “Apparently, Kaiser wanted to drink more, but didn't have the money. When he asked Afroz for Rs. 20, he refused.”

The quarrel turned violent and Kaiser picked up a grinding stone and battered Afroz's head with it, said the police.
