Mangalore, January 10: Laxshmi (55), resident of Tadambail, was killed when she was hit by unidentified motorcycle at Suratkal on the outskirts of the city.

Laxshmi, who was admitted to Srinivas Hospital at Mukka succumbed to her injuries the same day. A case of fatal road accident has been registered in Surathkal police station.

In a similar incident in Panambur police station limits, Sadashiva Poojary, resident of Kakkepadavu, Bantwal taluk, who was working as a watchmen in a private company, was killed when a KSRTC bus hit him at Baikampady village along NH 66 late.

Poojary, who sustained grievous injuries, was admitted to a hospital in Suratkal, where he breathed his last.

In a separate incident, an injured bike rider, who was hit by another bike on December 26, succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Rathnakar Rao (51) of Kotekani,Bejai.

Sources from Mangalore West police station said after the victim met with the accident at Chilimbo and sustained severe injuries, he was admitted to a private hospital.

Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.

The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.

On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.

Gonda, Apr 9: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room as he was missing his wife stuck at her parents' place due to the lockdown, police said.

The incident took place in Radha Kund locality here on Wednesday, they said, adding the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Soni, 32.

As per information, Soni's wife had gone to her parents' place and was stuck there due to the lockdown and he was missing her due to which he committed suicide, Inspector Alok Rao said.

A probe is on in the mater, he said.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.
