Mangalore, March 22: Three boats were gutted in a fire accident neat Bilt Circle on Tuesday night.
The loss was estimated at Rs. 5 lakh. According to the Fire and Emergency Services, a storeroom used to keep fishing equipment and boats caught fire. As the fire spread, three boats were destroyed.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel stopped the fire from reaching other huts on the beach. The boats belonged to Vittal Harikantra and Ratnakar Durgekar. The Karwar police have registered a case.
Bengaluru, Jun 7: A 27-year-old man was allegedly killed using deadly weapons by unidentified people here, police said.
The incident took place at deceased, Arvind's rented house in LBS Nagar inside HAL police station limits.
According to police, Arvind is an accused in a criminal case and recently walked out of jail on bail.
Bengaluru, May 6: Central Crime Branch Police have nabbed 71 people involved in various crimes taking advantage of Lock-down which prevents movement of people in the street and seized stolen properties worth about Rs 1.70 crore, official said on Wednesday.
Police said that in all 56 cases were booked. In all 17,312 duplicate Sanitisers, 2000 lts of Chemicals, 18,750 fake Masks, 270 Thermometers and two cars were seized from the arrested culprits.
During the raid godowns where rice and dal meant for free distribution during lock-down were robbed and stored were also seized.
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.
Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.
The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.
Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.
