Bangalore woman gave supari to kill beautician

Bangalore, March 26: Ramamurthy Nagar police arrested Savitha, 37, a homemaker, for allegedly giving supari to 13 assailants who killed her husband's lover, Nirmala, 42, a beautician.

Nirmala was murdered in her house in Yerraianapalya on February 27, 2012. The accused had escaped with her 40gm gold chain. During investigation, police found that the deceased had an illicit relationship with Ramesh, Savitha's husband, for the past 15 years. Savitha is said to have warned Nirmala to keep away from her husband, but Nirmala kept up her relationship. A frustrated Savitha gave money and gold ornaments to the other accused, Anil Kumar, to hire contract killers and eliminate Nirmala.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10: The man who fled from the Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 committed suicide on Wednesday morning after being brought back. He used his bed sheet to hang himself from the ceiling.

Hailing from Anad near Nedumangadu, the man, who was undergoing treatment in the isolation room set up at KHRWS pay ward, escaped from the hospital and boarded two KSRTC buses to reach his home.

The Health Department had said the latest tests had returned negative and he was to be discharged on Wednesday. However, City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay had claimed that one more test result of the person was awaited.

The man was blocked by locals upon his arrival at Anad. He was later taken back to the hospital and the police had registered a case against him under the Kerala Public Health Act and Epidemic Diseases Ordinance.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.

Thane, Jul 19: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his wife after picking up a fight as he did not like the food she cooked, Thane police said.

Sachin Godane, a resident of Gaikwad Pada in Ambernath, locked his two children and an aunt in one room of the house on Friday afternoon and brutally beat up his wife Chandrakala (28) with a log and then strangled her, said Assistant Inspector JB Bhoyer of Shivajinagar police station.

Godane has been remanded in police custody for four days, he added.
