Agra, March 30: In a tragic incident of patricide in an Uttar Pradesh village, a youth shot dead his father for refusing to let him marry the girl he loved.
The incident took place on Thursday night in Firozabad district's Karaura village, about 30 km from here, police said.
Anni fled after killing his father, Man Singh, who had castigated him for going around with a girl from the village. After a brief altercation, the young man shot his father and escaped.
Kochi, Mar 24: A 54-year-old domestic passenger was arrested at the airport here for allegedly refusing to follow instructions given by doctorsfor prevention of the spread of novel coronavirus, police said here on Tuesday.
Lami Arackal from Ernakulam, who landed from Chennai at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday night, was arrested based on a complaint from health officials, they said.
He was, however, later released on bail.
Arackal allegedly refused to wear mask and follow other instructions to be observed by the passengers coming from other states as part of the measures to check COVID-19 spread.
He also allegedly misbehaved with the medical officers, police said.
Thane, Jul 19: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his wife after picking up a fight as he did not like the food she cooked, Thane police said.
Sachin Godane, a resident of Gaikwad Pada in Ambernath, locked his two children and an aunt in one room of the house on Friday afternoon and brutally beat up his wife Chandrakala (28) with a log and then strangled her, said Assistant Inspector JB Bhoyer of Shivajinagar police station.
Godane has been remanded in police custody for four days, he added.
New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.
Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.
The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.
A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.
