accident_1Bangalore, April 1: Two boys were killed and another seriously injured when the scooter they were riding rammed into a BMTC bus near Ullala lake near Tavarekere in the City on Saturday.

Suhas, 16, and Subhashaiah, 13, are the dead. Kusheshaiah, 16, who sustained head injury, is being treated at a hospital.

Suhas and Kusheshaiah, classmates at the Vani School, Machohalli, had gone to pick up Subhashaiah, brother of Kusheshaiah on Saturday, the last day of his examination.

They were returning home when the accident occurred. Subhashaiah was a Class VI student, at Amrutanandamayi School.

Suhas was riding his mother’s scooter with his friends on the pillion when an oncoming BMTC bus took a left turn at a crossing. The speeding lads lost control of the their vehicle and rammed into the bus. Suhas and Subhashaiah died on the spot.

The families of the victims were numbed by the tragic accident. The parents of Kusheshaiah and Subhashaiah were inconsolable with one son dead and another in a critical condition.

Their father Veerabhadraiah, is the principal of ITI college, Jagalur and mother Malathi is a senior lecturer at Saptagiri Engineering College.

Suhas’s father, Srinivasamurthy, who is a superintendent in the Education department, told Deccan Herald that the two-wheeler was being used by his wife, Rukmini a housewife.

He said his son had a fad for the two wheeler and was adamant. Although they tried to dissuade him from using the vehicle, he didn’t obey and eventually lost his life, recalled Srinivasamurthy in tears.

The Tavarekere Police have registered a case and arrested the BMTC bus driver Devanna. But police sources say that the young boys were wrong on four counts – the rider of the two-wheeler had no licence and was a minor.

He was not wearing a helmet. They were riding triples and were riding on the wrong side of the road and rammed into the BMTC bus, when the bus was taking a left turn at a T-junction.

May 11: Two youths allegedly gang-raped a teen and then hacked to death her 11-year old brother, who had seen their act, in a bid to hide their crime, at a village in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district, about 300 kilometres from here.

Police sources said that two youths, resident of the same village, barged into the house of the teen, when she was alone, and allegedly gang-raped her.

The victim's minor brother suddenly came into the house and protested after he witnessed his sister being sexually assaulted, sources said. The youths allegedly strangled the minor with a towel.

The alleged culprits, who hailed from influential families, 'forced' the victim's parents to bury their son and warned them against approaching the cops.

The parents, however, gathered courage and met senior police officials in Etah on Sunday after a case was registered in this regard. Police said that the body of the minor would be exhumed and a postmortem examination would be conducted.
