35-yr old woman raped by six

6rapedJaipur, April 7: Six drunk friends beat up a man and gang raped his 35-year-old wife in front of him one by one on the rooftop of a deserted house in Kanota police station area of the city throughout Thursday night.


The woman was left in a semi-unconscious state, while her husband who tried to protest was humiliated and severely beaten up by the accused. The police arrested the six men, most of whom were property dealers, on Friday.


According to police, the man and his wife are residents of a town in Sikar district. "The man works at a mineral water factory in Sitapura Industrial area. He was on his way to his hometown on Thursday evening when one Hanuman Meena called him up and invited him to the birthday party of his friend's son at Prem Nagar in Rayla village under Kanota police station area," said DCP, east Mahendra Singh.


Singh said earlier the man was working at the agriculture farms in Kanota area following which he knew Meena (34) and his other friends including Shankar Lal Meena, Sitaram Meena (21), Rajulal Meena (26), Vishnu Sharma (40) and Dinesh Meena (28).


SHO of Kanota police station Vijay Pal Singh said that the couple went to the party where Hanuman and his gang boozed. "The party went on till around midnight and when the couple was leaving, Hanuman told them that they should stay at his house as it was too late," said Singh.


He added that Hanuman took the couple on his bike to a deserted house in Sumel in Kardhani Yojana. The other five friends also followed them on bikes.


"After taking the couple to the rooftop of the house, they started beating up the husband and stripped his wife. After stripping her completely, they started humiliating the husband and raped her one by one," said the officer.


He added that the husband somehow managed to get free and rushed outside. He ran through the village crying for help. The villagers then informed the police.


A police team rushed to the spot around 3.30 am finding the woman in a semi-unconscious state. The accused had run away by then. "We immediately rounded up some of them by 6 am, while the others by 11 am," said the officer.


Commissioner of police BL Soni said that keeping in view the seriousness of the incident, the police have put the case under the police's 'case officer scheme' and are carrying out DNA fingerprinting to nail the accused during trial.


He added that the medical examination of the victim has been carried out and her statements have been recorded. "The six accused have no criminal background. They were under the influence of alcohol and did this horrifying thing out of fun," said Soni.

Chandigarh, Jan 15: A man, who has killed two women over infidelity over the last 10 years was arrested from a news channel studio in Chandigarh when he confessed to these crimes during a live programme, police said.

In the television programme on News18, the 31-year-old accused, Maninder Singh, who is a cab driver, confessed killing his live-in partner, a 27-year-old nurse Sarabjit Kaur at a Chandigarh hotel on New Year's Eve.

Singh, a former murder convict and currently out on bail, also confessed about his crime committed in Karnal in 2010.

"I killed her (Sarabjit Kaur) because she was having an affair with her sister-in-law's brother," Maninder told the news channel.

Confessing his previous crime, Maninder said he had killed Renu in Karnal. "She was also having an affair with a man from Uttar Pradesh," he said.

Singh was arrested while the programme was still on air as police rushed into the studio.

Haryana Police had arrested him for killing the woman in 2010. He was convicted by a trial court, but he later got bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Cuttack, Jan 16: At least 15 passengers were injured as five coaches of the Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Lokmanya Tilak Express derailed and three more were displaced after colliding with a goods train amid heavy fog near Cuttack in Odisha on Thursday, railway officials said.

Railway officials had earlier said that 25 passengers were injured in the incident but later officers who reached the site reported that four passengers were found to have suffered major injuries and 11 had received minor injuries.

Passengers with major injuries have been sent to Cuttack Medical College. All passengers are stated to be out of danger.

Officials said the accident happened when the passenger train hit the guard van of a good train around 7 am between Salagaon and Nergundi stations.

The officials said there was heavy fog at the site but it was not clear what led to the accident. The speedometer of both the trains have been seized for inquiry, East Coast Railway Spokesperson J P Mishra said.

Buses have been arranged for all remaining passengers to move towards their destination.

Cuttack is around 10-12 km away and Bhubaneswar(Terminating station) is 35 km.

The accident disrupted train services in the area.

Five trains have been affected due to the accident where restoration work in underway. These include the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai LTT SF Express, the Puri-Rourkela Express, Dhanbad-Bhubaneshwar Rajyarani Express which have all been diverted via Naraj.

"East Coast Railway acknowledges with deep gratitude help of nearby locals and villagers who have displayed great humanitarian values and come to the rescue of injured passengers," Mishra said.

Visakhapatnam, Jun 30: Two people were killed and four others were taken ill after benzene gas leaked at a pharmaceutical company at Parawada near here early on Tuesday morning, official sources said.

The situation was now under control as the leak was restricted to one unit in the Sainor Life Sciences company, the sources said.

The two killed were senior employees of the company, they said.

The injured persons have been admitted to a hospital in Gajuwaka, with one of them being put on ventilator support, the sources added.

District Collector V Vinay Chand and Police Commissioner R K Meena visited the company to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the leak that took place in a reactor unit at the plant is yet to be established.

The incident comes nearly two months after 11 people were killed and over 1000 taken ill after gas leak at a chemical plant here.
