Bangalore, April 16: Manasa, 26, daughter of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) allegedly committed suicide at her house at Santrupti Nagar on the outskirts of the City on Sunday afternoon.

The reason for the extreme step taken by Manasa, however, remains a mystery.

The woman was found hanging from the staircase railings. The matter came to light when some of her friends came to her house.

When she did not answer the doorbells, they peeped through the window to find Manasa hanging.

Manasa, the daughter of Gejjappa, a DySP with the Revenue Encroachment Clearance Cell, took the extreme step when she was alone at home as the other family members had been to Chitradurga for a wedding.

She also had been to the wedding, but returned to the City on Saturday night with her brother.

The latter went back to Chitradurga later.

The police forced the door open and retrieved the body. Sources said that she had left a death note stating that no one was responsible for her death and that she was taking her life “disgusted at the ways of life”.

Manasa was married to Mohan Kumar, a software professional, two years ago. Mohan is now in Australia on a company project. Manasa was working with a leading IT firm in the City.

Reasons unknown

Shock and disbelief was the mood at her residence.

One of her cousins told Deccan Herald that he is unable to believe Manasa could take such a step.

He said she had no issues whatsoever with her husband and her in-laws. “She had been to Australia two months ago to meet her husband.”

Manasa’s body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital for post mortem. Hulimavu Police have registered a case.
