Wrestler murder: Police nab two

Karwar, April 18: Haliyal police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 42-year-old wrestler on Sunday in Garadolli village.

Juje Khaitan Kamrekar was allegedly killed by his father Khaitan and his son Vinod from his first wife.

According to police, Juje had deserted his first wife about six years ago and had sent her to her maternal house in Kiravatti village. He had an illicit relationship with another woman in Garadolli, it is alleged. Juje used to claim her as his second wife. Recently he had brought back his first wife to Garadolli village from Kiravatti.

On April 15, his first wife allegedly asked money for some purchase but Juje had refused. This had led to a clash between the two. This angered Juje's father Khaitan and Vinod. They allegedly attacked Juje with an axe on Sunday night and killed him on the spot. On Monday Juje's first wife filed a complaint with Haliyal police alleging that he was killed by his second wife. Upon inquiry police found that Juje was killed by his father and son. The two were arrested by the police on Monday evening.

Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.

The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.

On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

Visakhapatnam, Jun 30: Two people were killed and four others were taken ill after benzene gas leaked at a pharmaceutical company at Parawada near here early on Tuesday morning, official sources said.

The situation was now under control as the leak was restricted to one unit in the Sainor Life Sciences company, the sources said.

The two killed were senior employees of the company, they said.

The injured persons have been admitted to a hospital in Gajuwaka, with one of them being put on ventilator support, the sources added.

District Collector V Vinay Chand and Police Commissioner R K Meena visited the company to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the leak that took place in a reactor unit at the plant is yet to be established.

The incident comes nearly two months after 11 people were killed and over 1000 taken ill after gas leak at a chemical plant here.
