Techie murdered by brother-in-law

Hyderabad, April 23: A software professional working with Deloitte was murdered allegedly by hisbrother-in-law on Sunday. The victim was identified as 30-year-old Nandiraj Sri Sri of Sainathapuram, Neredmet.

At around 5.30 pm, Nandiraj was returning home when his bike was hit by another two-wheeler at Neredmet. Both Nandiraj and the other rider fell on the road but after getting up, the other person allegedly launched an indiscriminate attack on Nandiraj. When he tried to resist the attacker, the assailant picked up a boulder and banged it on his head. With severe head injuries, Nandiraj died instantly.

Some of the locals jotted down the numeric part of the bike number, which according to police, matches with that of Nandiraj's brother-in-law Satyanarayana.

Police said since the last two years, Satyanarayana's wife Rupa had been staying at her brother Nandiraj's place. "Recently, she filed for divorce. We suspect that he was holding a grudge against Nandiraj for supporting his sister and that could be the motive behind the murder", Neredmet inspector P Srinivas said. A manhunt has been launched to nab Satyanarayana.

Mumbai, Feb 11: A 65-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband over debt and illness in suburban Powai here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident came to light when Sheela Ajit Lad was found dead by her neighbours at Sukh Shanti Co-operative Society at around 9.30 pm on Monday, an official said.

The victim was allegedly killed by her husband Ajit Lad, who hit her on the head with a heavy object, slit her wrists and strangled her to death, he said.

The accused absconded at around 7.30 pm, leaving a note at the crime scene, saying he was going to commit suicide and had killed his wife because he was heavily in debt and she was suffering from an ailment, the official said.

The childless couple lived alone in the apartment, he added.

"On the basis of the note, we have registered a case of murder against Ajit Lad and have launched a manhunt for him. We have not traced him or found his body as he had mentioned suicide in the note," deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Zone X Ankit Goyal said.

New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.

Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.

The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.

A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.
