Karwar, June 11: Umesh Mahabaleshwar Kalgutkar was murdered at Hotegali village in Karwar on Saturday by his neighbour Gopinath Ratnakar Paduvalkar.
According to the police, Umesh had planned to build a borewell which Gopinath had opposed.
On Saturday night, Gopinath deliberately hit Umesh's two-wheeler with his car and later thrashed him with a wooden stick. Umesh suffered multiple fractures and died in the hospital.
The police have arrested Gopinath and the investigation is on.
New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.
Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.
The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.
A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.
Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.
The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.
Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.
"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
