New Delhi, July 9: A 23-year-old Delhi Police constable was stabbed to death allegedly by his minor girlfriend after they had a spat at the victim's rented house in Kondli, east Delhi, on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The girl, whose age would be medically determined by a team of doctors, had come to visit the constable, Anil, who lived alone at the first-floor residence.

Police sources said that the two hailed from the same area in Haryana and had been romantically involved for the past three years. However, after an argument over their future, the girl allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Anil in his chest. Stricken by the severity of the wound, the girl then rushed him to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital with the help of a neighbour.

However, he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The cause of death, prima facie, has been determined as excessive bleeding due to stab wounds.

The hospital authorities informed the police about the incident after which the girl was detained and brought to the police station. "The girl has been detained and will be produced before the juvenile justice board. A case of murder has been registered and we are gathering statements," said DCP (east) Prabhakar.

Neighbours said they did not heard any commotion prior to the stabbing. Said Rajjo, the landlady, "The girl had come to the house around 9am. Suddenly at around 1.30pm, the girl and another person who lives on rent in the first floor rushed out with Anil who was injured. We did not hear any loud noises before that."

"Anil was a well-behaved boy and had been living here for the past eight months. He told us that the girl was his niece and was pursuing her BA," she added.

Anil was posted at Hari Nagar police station in west Delhi and had reportedly called his girlfriend over to his house after speaking to her on the phone. He hailed from Tapple in Faridabad and had joined Delhi Police in 2007. He was earlier posted in Paschim Vihar.

The girl is pursuing a management course from a private institute, said cops.
