New Delhi, July 12: Peeved at his senior colleague coming in the way of his relationship with a girl, a 25-year-old engineer, with help from two associates, allegedly killed the man by ramming his car into him and burning his body.

Sandeep and his associates Prem and Soni were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of Joginder Sharma, who was working as an Assistant Manager in the same company where the accused is working.

Sharma's half-burnt body was found in Jaffar Pur Kalan area in south-west Delhi on July 8 and police zeroed in on Sandeep after it was established that the victim was last seen with him on the night of July 7.

During interrogation, police claimed, Sandeep said that he was working under the deceased and a girl, who is his friend, was the bone of contention between him and Sharma.

"Joginder was warned about this but he did not mend his ways. At last, Sandeep decided to eliminate him. He persuaded his two friends namely Prem and Soni who joined him," AK Ojha, Additional Commissioner of Police, South-West District, said.

On the intervening night of July 7 and 8, Sandeep called Sharma to Gurgaon on the pretext of inviting the victim to a liquor party. Sandeep was reportedly drunk. Thereafter, Joginder was brought to Ganda Nala, Sarang Pur, in a car and murdered, police said.

Sharma was hit by the car twice and then set on fire in order to destroy his identity, Mr Ojha said. The car used in the crime and ATM cards have been recovered.
