Dubai, October 7: The Dubai Police have said that the Indian woman who was found with her throat slit in her flat in the Bur Dubai area was murdered during a theft.

According to a police source, the Dubai Police have recovered the jewellery stolen from the 36-year-old woman’s house from the suspect’s possession. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

A police source said that the police have identified the suspect two days after he committed the murder. Initially, it was suspected that the motive behind the murder was revenge as the woman’s throat was slit in a brutal way. The suspect had also locked the door behind him after leaving the woman’s body inside the flat.

The source said that the 29-year-old suspect was living in a nearby area in Rafa and he confessed that he planned the murder and theft because he had financial problems.

He chose his victim as he had seen her wearing jewellery a few months back when he visited her flat to buy a washing machine. He also knew that her husband would leave for work in the morning and their only son would be at school.

After the crime, the police had set up a team of investigators and issued a circular on the stolen jewellery. Relatives of the victim and many people in the building were interrogated. Initially, the police suspected the husband of the victim but later he proved that he was at his workplace at the time of the murder.

The source said that the crime was so mysteries because the suspect had not left any traces and nobody had seen him on that day.

He gave some excuse to the woman to convince her to open the door. He tried to put his hands on her mouth to avoid her screaming. But when he failed to do that, he stabbed her in the neck and then slit her throat. The woman had resisted fiercely and when the suspect was arrested, the police saw scratches in his body. DNA tests had proved that the scratches matched with the blood that found on the victim.

He said that after killing the woman, he changed his clothes and took the knife with him.

He also removed all traces and took the key after locking the door. The police suspected the husband of the victim because the door was locked after the murder. Even though the husband said that jewellery worth Dh14,500 was stolen and the murder motive was theft, the police found all the things in the flat in order.

When the suspect was arrested, he confessed to the crime and showed the police the place where he kept the gold and the knife. He was hiding after the crime for some time, but was stunned to see the police who reached at his place.

The body of the woman hailing from the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu in India was found in a residential building in Bur Dubai. Around 1pm, the police received information and rushed to the scene and found the woman with her throat slit and lying in a pool of blood near the door of the studio apartment. The weapon used was not found on the crime scene, the police said.

Her 37-year-old husband, who works as an accountant in a private company, left home at 7.30am along with their child. He usually drops the child at school.

He received a call from his wife’s friend living in the same building saying that his wife was not there to pick up their son studying in KG1 from the school bus, as was the case everyday.

The friend had gone down to pick up her child and since the victim was missing, she went back and knocked on the door of their flat, but nobody opened.

The husband told the police that he immediately returned home only to find the door locked. He opened the door and found his wife lying dead in a pool of blood.women_found_murdered

Warangal, May 26: A 26-year-old man from Bihar was arrested here for murdering nine people by throwing them into a well to cover the murder of a woman, police said on Monday.

Dr Ravinder, Commissioner of Police (CP), Warangal, said that the bodies were recovered on May 21 and May 22 from the well. Investigation has revealed that the accused, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, killed all of them to cover up the murder of Rafiqa, with whom he had a relationship.

He said that Yadav got acquainted with a person named Maqsood and his sister-in-law Rafiqa. "Slowly, he came close to Rafiqa and started living together with her three children. Yadav tried to misbehave with Rafiqa's 15-year-old daughter. Rafiqa did not like this and threatened to lodge a complaint against him," Ravinder said.

"Then, Yadav planned to kill Rafiqa in order to live with her daughter. Yadav promised Rafiqa to marry. They boarded a train to West Bengal from March 7. Yadav mixed sleeping tablets in the food packet and later strangulated her, and threw her body outside the train," he said.

According to police, Yadav later came back to Warangal but Maqsood's wife Nisha started questioning him about the whereabouts of Rafiqa.

"Nisha threatened to lodge a police complaint against him. With a premeditated motive, from May 16 to May 20, he visited Maqsood's family who stayed in a gunny bag factory," he said.

Yadav purchased sleeping pills from Warangal and mixed in the food on the birthday of Maqsood's elder son on May 20, police said.

"Maqsood and his five family members were living there. Yadav mixed sleeping pills in the food and later they consumed it. Maqsood's family friend Shakeel was also there. Then, he went to the first floor of the factory where two labourers were staying. He mixed sleeping pills in their food too. He suspected that they may get up and create a problem. To cover up the murder of Rafiqa, he killed nine people," Ravinder said.

At around 12:30 am, Yadav woke up and saw that everyone is asleep, according to police.

"Then, he used the gunny bags to drag all the nine people into the well. He threw the gunny bag one by one into the well," Ravinder said.

According to the police, six teams were deployed to investigate the case.

"Yadav has been arrested now and will be taken to police custody. We will collect all evidence and ensure that he gets maximum punishment for this offence," Ravinder said.
