Bangalore, October 22: The Chennai-bound Kaveri Express derailed in the early hours on Monday near Kuppam, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
More than 20 people are reportedly hurt in the accident.
Four bogies including the engine of Kaveri Express train went off the track. Rescue operations are hindered by heavy rains in the region.
The injured are admitted to Chittoor hospital. Special buses have been arranged for the stranded passengers.
Bengaluru, Jun 7: A 27-year-old man was allegedly killed using deadly weapons by unidentified people here, police said.
The incident took place at deceased, Arvind's rented house in LBS Nagar inside HAL police station limits.
According to police, Arvind is an accused in a criminal case and recently walked out of jail on bail.
Mandya, Jun 14: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were drowned in a pond at Beeranahalli village in Nagamangala taluk of this district on Sunday.
Police said that the deceased have been identified as Geeta (40), and her two children Savita(19) and Soumya(14).
Savaitha is a degree student while Soumya was studying in 9th standard. The trio drowned in a pond where they had gone to wash their cows. The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them but could not save.
Puducherry,Mar 26: Congress legislator from Kamaraj Nagar constituency John Kumar has been booked on charges of violating lock-down rules, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said on Thursday.
In a Whats app posting she further said that an FIR has been registered under the Disaster management Act.
She stated John Kumar in an irresponsible manner allowed more than 200 people to gather outside his house and distributed doles personally when lock down was enforced in the country.
A criminal case has been registered against him for blatant violation of law despite mass information and media messages.Instead of following the law, he chose to violate it,she further stated.
The LG added that as per the ground report by IGP Surendra Yadav, there was perceptible improvement in enforcement of lock down and public were aware and cooperative.Vehicles carrying essential supplies and personnel were moving and every day is an improvement.
