Bangalore, October 30: Unable to suffer the harassment from her friend, Bhagyamma’s relatives, Kalavathi (18) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Magadi taluk .


The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Gollarahatti village in Magadi taluk in the limits of Kudur police station of Ramanagaram district.


Kalavathi was a resident of Gollarahatti and an employee of a private factory in Kunigal. She and Bhagyamma of Chinna Thimmayyana Palya were close friends and colleagues.


Love affair


Bhagyamma fell in love with a boy and eloped a fortnight ago. Her parents came to Kalavathi's house and asked her about their daughter's whereabouts and sought details about Bhagyamma’s affair.


Though she told them that she was not aware about her friend, her relatives started calling her frequently on her cellphone, seeking Bhagyamma's details. Kalavathi lodged a complaint in the local police station and the police warned Bhagyamma’s relatives against pestering her.


However, Bhagyamma’s parents and other relatives reportedly came to Kalavathi’s house on Sunday evening and picked a quarrel with her alleging that Kalavathi was behind Bhagyamma's love affair.

Suicide note


Reportedly frustrated over the repeated harassment, she hanged herself after leaving a suicide note that Bhagyamma’s relatives were behind her death.


She also alleged that some of them tried to outrage her modesty to pressure her to reveal Bhagyamma’s whereabouts.
Case registered


“In her suicide note, Kalavathi had mentioned some people responsible for her death.
We have registered a case of abetment of suicide. All the accused are absconding and efforts are on to nab them,” a police official said.

Kanpur, May 24: Three persons onboard separate Shramik Special trains lost their lives due to various ailment, officials said here on Saturday.

"Family members of the deceased said all were suffering from serious ailment. The travel history of all the three deceased passengers was taken, Kanpur District Magistrate Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari said.

Giving details about the deceased, he said Naichinalyu Disang (23), a resident of Nagaland, was going from Delhi to Dimapur.

"She was suffering from liver ailments," Tiwari said. As she coughed and vomited in the train, other passengers got terrified, he added.

The district magistrate said the body reached Kanpur Central Station at around 10.00 am.

Sample has been taken to check for the presence of novel coronavirus. She was working at a spa in Himachal Pradesh, he said.

Tiwari said Rajendra Prasad (50), a resident of Unnao, died on the Lucknow-bound special train from Andhra Pradesh.

Munni Devi (80), a resident of Siwan district in Bihar, died onboard the special train going from Surat to Siwan, the senior official informed.

Mumbai, Jan 12: At least eight persons were killed and several others injured when a massive blast followed by a fire ripped a chemical factory at Boisar in Palghar district, nearly 100 km north of Mumbai, on Saturday, officials said.

Top Palghar district administration, police and fire brigade officials have rushed to the spot for the rescue operation, while Fire Brigade teams from Boisar MIDC industrial area and Tarapur Atomic Power Station are engaged in dousing the flames.

As per local witnesses, the intensity of the explosion was so severe that it was audible in a 35-km range and one building in the factory collapsed.

Besides, many homes in the immediate vicinity were shaken and people ran outside thinking it was an earthquake, as power lines also failed.

The exact cause of the explosion-cum-blaze which occurred around 7 p.m. is not immediately available.

Bengaluru, May 6: Central Crime Branch Police have nabbed 71 people involved in various crimes taking advantage of Lock-down which prevents movement of people in the street and seized stolen properties worth about Rs 1.70 crore, official said on Wednesday.

Police said that in all 56 cases were booked. In all 17,312 duplicate Sanitisers, 2000 lts of Chemicals, 18,750 fake Masks, 270 Thermometers and two cars were seized from the arrested culprits.

During the raid godowns where rice and dal meant for free distribution during lock-down were robbed and stored were also seized.
