Student gangraped inside private bus; victim, her friend then stripped, thrown out

New Delhi, December 17: In yet another incident of violence against women, a medical student was allegedly gangraped in a private bus in the Vasant Vihar area of southwest Delhi. The incident happened on Sunday night.stop_rpe

The victim's male friend registered a complaint with the Vasant Vihar police station at around 1.15 am. According to the police, the duo boarded a bus to Dwarka from Munirka and the incident took place when the bus reached Mahipalpur.

The girl and her friend were then stripped and thrown out of the bus, the police said. The girl is in the Safdarjung hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

The police have registered a case under section 376 and rounded up 24 people - drivers and conductors of white line buses, for questioning. The CCTV footage from nearby hotels and petrol pumps is also being checked.

Mar 12: Three women were arrested for allegedly administrating fake coronavirus vaccines to villagers in Maharashtra's Jalna district, police said on Thursday.

The police on Wednesday arrested Beed residents Radha Ramnath Saamse, Seema Krishna Andhale and Sangeeta Rajendra Avhad, who allegedly posed as doctors and healthcare workers, an official said.

The trio met villagers of Pipalgoan in Ambad tehsil, informed them about a vaccine that could protect them from coronavirus and administered it to gullible locals, he said.

Some villagers informed Dr Mahadev Munde, a medical officer at a rural health centre, about this, after which a complaint was lodged, the official said.

Fake vaccines and bottles, which were seized from the accused, have been sent to the state health department, he said, adding that a case of cheating has been registered against the trio.

Bengaluru, May 21:Tragedy struck an elderly migrant worker who was looking forward to joining his family as he died on reaching a nearby railway station to board a Shramik Special train to his home state Madhya Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

The 69-year old man, who worked in a coffee estate in Chikkamagaluru, collapsed and died soon after getting down from a state-run KSRTC bus that brought him and others to the Chikkabanavara Railway station on Wednesday.

According to police, fellow labourers said he had been ailing for quite some time.

The cause of his death would be known only after a post-mortem, police added.

Karnataka government has been sending back thousands of migrant workers stranded in the state due to the COVID-19 lockdown by arranging the special trains.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.
