Minor girl raped, video clip posted on internet

Pithora, December 24: Amid the countrywide uproar against the gangrape in Delhi, a minor girl was raped, filmed and later a MMS clip was uploaded on the internet in a village in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.

Police in Pithora, 94 km from the state capital, have lodged a case against seven youths on the charges of rape and under the provisions of the Information Technology Act for circulating the MMS clip on mobile and also uploading it on the internet.

Though the incident took place on November 19, the minor girl did not inform anyone about the incident.

When the MMS was circulated in the village that the girl's family was informed about it by some people who recognized her in the clip. According to the complaint, the incident took place when the minor girl was waiting for a conveyance to return from Tendukona village to her village Khuteri.

A youth, identified as Bholaram Sinha, who was known to her, offered her a lift and raped her on the way at Darri Dongra area, which is usually isolated.

Meanwhile, six more youths including Yogesh Bariha, Parasmani Bariha and Suman Bariha, clicked pictures and recorded videos. According to the reports, they also robbed the minor of the money she had.All the accused are on the run.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10: The man who fled from the Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 committed suicide on Wednesday morning after being brought back. He used his bed sheet to hang himself from the ceiling.

Hailing from Anad near Nedumangadu, the man, who was undergoing treatment in the isolation room set up at KHRWS pay ward, escaped from the hospital and boarded two KSRTC buses to reach his home.

The Health Department had said the latest tests had returned negative and he was to be discharged on Wednesday. However, City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay had claimed that one more test result of the person was awaited.

The man was blocked by locals upon his arrival at Anad. He was later taken back to the hospital and the police had registered a case against him under the Kerala Public Health Act and Epidemic Diseases Ordinance.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.

Bengaluru, May 6: Central Crime Branch Police have nabbed 71 people involved in various crimes taking advantage of Lock-down which prevents movement of people in the street and seized stolen properties worth about Rs 1.70 crore, official said on Wednesday.

Police said that in all 56 cases were booked. In all 17,312 duplicate Sanitisers, 2000 lts of Chemicals, 18,750 fake Masks, 270 Thermometers and two cars were seized from the arrested culprits.

During the raid godowns where rice and dal meant for free distribution during lock-down were robbed and stored were also seized.
