Gulbarga, December 30: In yet another rape case reported from Karnataka, a youth was arrested on charges of abducting and raping a minor girl.

The incident of rape has come to light after 10-days following the girl returning home two days ago, police said.

The accused Sabanna Nalappa Poojary (24), who is already married, kidnapped the 15-year-old girl from a agriculture field on December 19 in Handarki village in Sedam taluk in this district.

Police said the culprit took the girl to Kakalvar village in the nearby Yadgir district promising to marry her, an offer which she rejected.

Sabanna ventured to take the girl to his house since his wife had been to her native, confined her and raped her repeatedly till December 27, the day the victim managed to flee.

In the meanwhile, the parents of the girl, who went clueless about their daughter's whereabouts lodged a missing complaint on December 26.

The girl upon her return narrated her story and her parents immediately filed a police complaint. The police arrested Sabanna, produced him before a local court, which remanded him to 15 day judicial custody.

A gang rape has been reported from Hassan district earlier this month, in which about 10 culprits raped a 17-year-old dalit girl for about 10 days. Nine accused have so far been arrested in the case.
