Infosys IT manager jumps to death

Hyderabad, Sep 12: A 35-year-old manager with Infosys committed suicide by jumping from an under-construction apartment building at Moosapet on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Shailender Nemkar, a manager with Infosys, Gachibowli. Shailender had married Reena six years ago and the couple along with their two children, Ritika and Ritik, stays at Hydernagar. Recently, Shailender had booked a flat at 19-storied under-construction Rainbow Vista apartment at Moosapet.

On Wednesday morning, Shailender left the house informing Reena that he was going to their under-construction flat. Before leaving the house, Shailender also called up his uncle and asked him to come to the flat at Moosapet.

However, after reaching Rainbow Vista apartment, Shailender first went to his flat located on the eighth floor and from there he went to the 19th floor and jumped to death from there. With critical injuries, he died on the spot and based on the information given by construction workers, Kukatpally police rushed to the spot.

"We have found a suicide note in the wallet of the victim. In the note, addressed to his wife, Shailender has written that nobody was responsible for his death and he loves all," Kukatpally inspector K Chandrakanth said.

During the preliminary probe, Shailender's wife told police that since past few months her husband was in a depressed condition due to financial problems. Shailender's parents stay at Sikh Village in Secunderabad and they told police that they were clueless about the possible reason for Shailender's extreme step. Police registered a case under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and shifted the body for a post-mortem examination.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.

Mandya, Jun 14: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were drowned in a pond at Beeranahalli village in Nagamangala taluk of this district on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Geeta (40), and her two children Savita(19) and Soumya(14).

Savaitha is a degree student while Soumya was studying in 9th standard. The trio drowned in a pond where they had gone to wash their cows. The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them but could not save.

Ahmedabad, Jan 20: Cops in Gandhinagar fell in a catch-22 situation when a state government employee approached them with a complaint that the 26-year-old woman class teacher of his 14-year-old son had gone missing taking his son in tow. The man, who works at Udyog Bhavan in Gandhinagar said the woman had seduced his teenage son, who studies in class VIII and taken him away with her. The boy had gone missing from 4pm on Friday, and the classteacher was also missing.

A police official said the woman teacher had been too intimate with the allegedly missing boy for around a year, and the school authorities had recently rebuked them. “As their relationship was unaccepted, they left their homes on Friday,” he said. It was rare to find a case of a woman teacher eloping with her teenage student, the official added.

An FIR for elopement under Section 363 IPC has been registered with Kalol city police in Gandhinagar district. The complaint stated the teacher is a resident of Darbari chawl in Kalol town.

“When I reached home at around 7pm, I found my son missing. My wife told me he had left home at around 4pm. We searched for him in the neighbourhood and among relatives, but couldn’t trace him,” claims the teenage boy’s father in the FIR. “I went to the teacher’s house but they were not there,” the man stated.

Inspector K K Desai of Kalol city police said the missing duo could not be traced as they were not carrying cellphones.
