Cultural extravaganza to mark UAE Bunts’ 42nd anniversary

Dubai: UAE Bunts are all set for the mega event of their 42nd annual celebrations to be held on Friday the 15th April 2016 at the Main Ballroom of Hotel Crowne Plaza, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The cultural extravaganza begins at 10.30 am.

The Chief Guest of the day will be HE Mr.Seetharam, Indian Ambassador to UAE. The Guest of Honour of the day will be a well-known Bunt personality from Mangalore Mr.Kadri Navaneetha Shetty. The programme presided by Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty, Patron, U.A.E. Bunts. The grand event will be compered by Mr.Kadri Navaneetha Shetty.

On this auspicious occasion the Guest of Honour Mr.Kadri Navanitha Shetty will be honoured with "Bunta Vibhooshana" special award for his selfless service to the society and for promoting Art & Culture in Tulu & Kannada.

Multiple cultural and special events are lined up for the whole family to enjoy the entire day grand cultural extravaganza.

The main special attraction of the day will be Dance Competitions (Folk and Cinematic) for kids & adults. These special dance competitions will be held on Folklore and Cinematic themes and expected a large number of participants, young and old who will entertain the crowd during the celebrations. In this dance performance each group will be conveying a social message pertaining to our community. The terms and conditions of the dance competition are as under :

Use 30 second narration before the dance to highlight your social message

Duration : 4 to 6 minutes

Age group : All age groups (special point for this)

Group : Minimum 8 maximum - no limit

Language : Kannada & Tulu

It should be pure Folk dance and no skit/drama involved

Prizes : Cash Award (1st, 2nd & 3rd) with memontos

Message topics : Anti Dowry, Keep Clean, Family Love, Helping the poor etc.etc.

The other special attraction of the day is BUNT PERFECT JODI for which the auditions are already been conducted and 10 couples are selected for the final show which will be a very attractive event of the day on 15th April, 2016. This competition will be held in three rounds i.e. First Round: Fashion Show, Second Round: Talent Show and Final will be Question/Answer round which will be adjudged by the eminent judges and the winning couples will be awarded with BUNT PERFECT JODI title and offered loads of prizes and holiday packages.

During the program UAE Bunts are privileged to honour Bunts students who have achieved marks 90% and above in 10th & 12th, Bunts students excelled in the field of sports and other achievements like Sheikh Hamdan Awards/Sharjah Awards. during the year 2015/2016. The event also holds loads of dances, cultural events based on Kannada/tulu Culture, Customs, and Traditions of Coastal Karnataka.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
