Pune, Sep 1: A Pune sessions on Saturday sent Rajesh Bangera and Amit Degwekar, the two accused in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case, to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody for 10 days.

On the other hand, Sachin Andure, who was arrested by the CBI on August 18 from Aurangabad, was sent to magistrate custody.

Speaking to reporters here, Bangera and Digvekar's lawyer, Sameer Patvardhan, claimed that his clients were not involved in killing Dabholkar, adding that their custody should be nullified.

"I have mentioned in the court that the chargesheet is already submitted in the court where it is mentioned that Vinay Pawar and Sarang Akolkar are two killers. Amit Digvekar and Rajesh Bangers have no connection to the murder of Narendra Dabholkar. Hence, their custody should be nullified," he said.

On the other hand, Andure's lawyer Dharam Raj said "The CBI is now claiming that Sharad Kasalkar and Sachin Andure shot and killed Dabholkar. On the other hand, they earlier claimed that Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar shot him. We have to believe that out of the four accused, two are innocents. They have been falsely implicated by the CBI."

Earlier in the week, the Mumbai sessions court had denied a grant remand of another accused, Sharad Kalaskar, who was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad in an explosives recovery case.

Dabholkar, who was the founder of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) was shot dead on August 20, 2013, by bike-borne assailants while he was returning to his home from a morning walk.

Bikaner, Jan 5: A government-run hospital in Bikaner saw the death of at least 162 children, higher than the number of deaths in Kota's JK Lon Hospital in December.

"In December, we received 2,219 children from different hospitals out of which 162 children died in the Intensive Care Unit here. None of them was born at the hospital," said Dr HS Kumar, Principal, Sardar Patel Medical College, PBM Hospital.

He, however, denied any negligence on the part of the hospital and said that all efforts were made to save every single life.

The official said that all the deceased children had taken birth at the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) and the Community Health Centres (CHC) and were referred to the PBM Hospital in a critical condition.

"Their condition was critical and they breathed their last during treatment," he said.

At least 110 children have lost their lives at JK Lon government hospital in Kota, Rajasthan.

New Delhi, Jan 7: The Delhi Police has filed an FIR against JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh and 19 others for allegedly attacking security guards and vandalising the server room of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 4.

The police registered the FIR on January 5.

In the complaint filed by the JNU administration, the University alleged that the accused were involved in physical violence and pushed the women guards, verbally abused them and threatened them of dire consequences if they opened the lock of university's communication and information (CIS) office.

"They illegally trespassed the University property with the criminal intention to damage the public property. They damaged servers and made it dysfunctional. They also damaged fiber optic power supplies and broke the biometric systems inside the room," the University officials alleged.

This incident allegedly occurred a day before Aishe Ghosh, other JNU students and teachers were attacked by a masked mob inside the campus.
