`To Dad, With Love': Hrithik, Sunaina launch book on Rakesh Roshan

May 27, 2014

New Delhi, May 27: Rakesh Roshan, his wife Pinkie, and their children Sunaina and Hrithik were here in a rarely captured picture perfect moment for the launch of "To Dad, With Love", a pictorial biography on the filmmaker by his daughter. She says once she worked closely with her dad, she realised that "this man needs to be written about".hrithik rakesh roshan

Sunaina, a cancer survivor who constantly exudes a vibrant smile with a sparkle in her eyes, says it was when she worked with her father as an assistant director for "Krrish 3" that the idea of a book on the actor-filmmaker struck her.

"I saw a different side of him at work. I felt this man needs to be written about to inspire people," Sunaina, the elder of the Roshans' children, said here Monday night.

The book's foreward is written by Hrithik, and their mother Pinkie played a key role in putting the whole idea together.

Sunaina says it is his never-say-die spirit which inspires her the most, and it is his philosophy of "tough times don't last, tough people do", which kept her going when she was ill.

So, once Sunaina decided to embark on the journey of penning a book, based on a gamut of photographs from Rakesh Roshan's childhood to teenage days as well as his days as a young handsome actor, when he turned a husband, father, director and on his journey till now, she touched base with his extended family and friends secretly to get the project going.

There are about 30 people, including names like Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra and Rishi Kapoor, to whom Sunaina spoke to for getting the most candid information out about her father.

Sunaina said amongst all, Hrithik was the toughest to get hold of to write the foreward for the book, but when he did, he did it with all his heart.

For Rakesh Roshan, who is known for directing films like "Khoon Bhari Maang", "Karan Arjun", Kaho Naaa Pyaar Hai" and the "Krrisha franchise", it was a proud and happy moment.

On Monday, after Narendra Modi took oath as the country's 14th prime minister, here was Rakesh Roshan attending a launch of a book on himself by his daughter.

"Modi-ji ne kahaa ache din aane waale hain. Mera ache din toh aa gaya (Modi said good days lie ahead, my good day has come) - a daughter is launching a book on her father. What better day to launch it," he said here Monday.

The proud daddy said he was surprised yet proud that Sunaina managed to interview his school friends, teachers and co-actors, and has quoted them "so well" in the book, published by Om Books International.

The family heaped praise on each other's `superhero' abilities at the event, which was also attended by the Roshans' elderly family members. Rakesh and Pinkie were emotional to see them, and went out of their way to greet them.

Los Angeles, Jan 27: Lil Nas X, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and... Michelle Obama?

Yep.

The former first lady can now add Grammy winner to her resume, after snagging the award on music's biggest night for Best Spoken Word Album, for the audiobook of her memoir Becoming.

Her win on Sunday gives the Obama household its third Grammy: former president Barack Obama has already snagged two Grammys in the same category for his books.

She faced an eccentric group of rivals that included Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys for Beastie Boys Book and John Waters, the director-performer known for his transgressive cult films, for Mr. Know-It-All.

Released in late 2018, Becoming saw the former first lady slam U.S. president Donald Trump for questioning her husband's citizenship and promoting the notion that he was born abroad.

"The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed," Obama wrote.

America's first black first lady also dug into her personal life in her book, expounding on issues including a miscarriage, using in-vitro fertilization to conceive her daughters and marriage counseling.

Washington, Apr 8: Choosing stethoscope over the crown, Miss England 2019, Bhasha Mukherjee, has returned to work as a doctor as the world battles with coronavirus pandemic.

According to CNN, she was a junior doctor with a specialisation in respiratory medicine, before being crowned as Miss England in August last year. The beauty queen, who has her roots in India's Kolkata city, had taken a career break from the medical field.

She had paused her medical career for some humanitarian work that she was offered by several charities and was on a tour to different countries including India.

"I was invited to Africa, to Turkey, then to India, Pakistan and several other Asian countries to be an ambassador for various charity work," CNN quoted her as saying.

She had been in India at the beginning of March for four weeks. During her stay as an ambassador of the Coventry Mercia Lions Club, the 24-year-old had visited several schools and had donated stationery and other items to the needy.

Mukherjee then returned back UK as the situation worsened there with the coronavirus spreading at a fast rate. She then contacted the hospital and asked them that she wanted to rejoin.

According to CNN, the Miss England beauty pageant winner said that she felt wrong to be wearing the crown while people around the world were dying from the virus.

"When you are doing all this humanitarian work abroad, you're still expected to put the crown on, get ready... look pretty. I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work," CNN quoted her as saying.

"I felt a sense of this is what I'd got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now. It was incredible the way the whole world was celebrating all key workers, and I wanted to be one of those, and I knew I could help," she added.

As the beauty queen has a recent travel history, she is currently in self-isolation and will return to work once her quarantine period is over.
She was crowned as Miss England 2019 in August last year.

According to World Health Organisation, 13,53,361people have been affected by coronavirus and over 80,000 people have lost their lives to it.
