Dammam: 1,500 NRIs take part in JF mega coastal festival-2018

Dammam: The evening weather with stormy wind, rain and drizzling couldn’t change the mood and temperament of Jam’iyyatul Falah’s members who kept the preparation in full swing for “JF Mega Coastal Festival 2018”. It was a radiant and enjoyable social event organized by JF-Dammam Unit, the pioneer in organizing the NRI family get-together in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia since 1995.

“JF Mega Coastal Festival 2018” the annual event of JF Dammam Unit, which was recently held at Orchid Istirah in Dammam 91 Area under the theme “Our Community is Better Together”, marked the celebration of 30th glorious year. The gathering of 1500 participants with expatriate families mainly from the coastal belt of Karnataka joined together with their relatives and friends. The evening  was filled with fun and frolic, Quran recitation competition for children, Quiz competition for adult and games for children and adult with many more prizes and gifts on raffle was announced.

As promised, the event had given a wonderful opportunity to bring together the spirit of Mangalore to create an environment of Festival. Men, women and children had joined the festival of joy and excitement to discover the amazing native atmosphere of Mangalore. The event commenced with Quran recitation and its meaning by Mohammad Ishaq, and immediately followed the welcome speech by President Nizamuddin Shaikh. The event was planned, organized and executed under the supervision of event Chairman Rafiq Nariyar.

The entire evening was filled with various funs and exciting games like Musical Chair, Sack Race and spot games for boys & men was well organized by sports team. The games for children made them excited to play the different games and attractive prizes were presented to all the winners.

The dinner was the ‘Taste of the Evening’ which squeezed and jammed the crowd to taste the scrumptious and lip-smacking food catered by the famous Indian Restaurant “Golden Spoon” of Dammam. The mouth-watering Indian cuisine creates a center of attention to the crowd and enjoyed the yummy and delicious native taste.

The attractive Kiosk from Al Jufailah Corporation, the sole distributor of Al-Kabeer Frozen Products, had pulled the crowd with their appetizing aroma to taste the sample of their new products. And other Kiosk from different FMCG companies such as indomine, switz cakes, east tea, mazaya food and orlanda milk had offered lip-smacking food and beverages which attracted and pulled the crowd with their enticing aroma to taste the sample of their new products.

At the women’s section, children were cherished and enjoyed the fun with different types of games. The women’s organizing committee had skillfully managed the program and brilliantly implemented the games for adult & children and successfully accomplished the task provided to each volunteers. All the winners were presented with attractive prizes.

Jam’iyyatul Falah’s documentary film “PRAGATI” was displayed and the crowd fixed their eyes with full attention and applauded the wonderful activities carried by Jam’iyyatul Falah back-home.

The magnificent evening had witnessed the success of mega event and displayed the hard-work of the event’s working committee. Many dignitaries from different states attended the events and enjoyed the evening. In the early hours of dawn, thrilled spectators made a reluctant exit from the venue, thoroughly lost in the magical spell cast on them during an unforgettable night. Ameen Shaik proposed vote of thanks immediately after announcing the winner of super mega prizes.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.
